I purchased this new when I started Medical School, and hardly used it until 3rd year. Battery failure in less than 4 years of usage and fewer than 50 charge cycles. Warranty? Battery only warranted for 2 years from date of manufacture, not the date of purchase! As seen in the paperwork that comes with it:
Stick with Welch Allyn metal handles, then just replace the reasonably priced nickel cadmium battery inside.
I can't see how to disassemble them to fix either.
Most Welch Allyn stuff is much sturdier than this
I expected better support from Welch-Allyn. I was not pleased with them taking advantage of a short expiration date and using it as a sales tactic.
The on/off switch (rheostat) went bad once, and Welch-Allyn replaced it for free.

This is my second Welch Allyn battery. My first one lasted 10 years before it fell apart. I am expecting same quality. So far it appears to be good.Published 16 months ago by Amazongrl
Quite expensive for not much more than a battery. NiCad handle works as well or better and a more reasonably priced battery replacement.Published on April 22, 2014 by Visionary
