Betsy Otter Thompson poses 33 mind and soul provoking questions and gives responses to each of them. But these aren't your ordinary, run-of-the-mill questions. They are questions that make you sit back and ponder how you answer them for yourself. Questions like:
What Happens If I Insist There Must Be One Answer?
What Happens If I Think I Have To Be Perfect?
What Happens If I Live Without Integrity?
What Happens If I Sit Around and Do Nothing?
What Happens If I Make a Mistake?
Thompson gives answers that, like the questions, are NOT run-of-the mill. Some of them may startle you, and some may make you shake your head and say, "No way." ALL of them will make you think, make you dig deep for your own response and leave you with a new point of view. You may not like this book if you are a person who clings to old ideas or always has to be right. If this is so, you need this book.
The strength of the book, for me, was posing the question, "What if..." and trying out various answers or "reactions" before I read Thompson's response. I tried to shake off old thinking and "how I've always reacted" to find my own answers. Sometimes our answers were vastly different and I could see that we were both right in our own way. My answers were right for me. Her answers were right for her. Your answers may be still different and will be right for you.
The bottom line for the answer to every question is Love. Read it and you'll see what I mean.
Betsy Otter Thompson's book, "What Happens If I...", is written from her experiences. I think each of us could write out our own version of what she has here. As you read it some of what she has to say will line up with your thoughts and beliefs while other points will challenge your thinking.
I appreciate Betsy's candor and honesty as she takes us through 33 What Happens If I questions. The editing is good, the book cover speaks of a How To book, and the overall content is hard to argue since it is Betsy's personal experiences.
'What Happens If I' was written in a way to help us all understand our own motives and decision making processes when dealing with other people and life situations. I liked the format of her book and Betsy has a good writing style that doesn't overwhelm you with big words to prove that she can write but instead encourages us all to look inside ourselves to unlock our own destiny.

This slender book is packed full of wisdom, gentle guidance, psycho-spiritual insight, and practical skills to create the best possible outcome and achieve a more fulfilling life experience. “How To Make Action/Reaction Work For You instead of Against You” is the subtitle, and this inner journey is exactly the book’s message. However, it is well known that how you say something holds equal (or more) weight than what you say—and this book says it so beautifully.
