I loved this essay!! As a former teacher in New York I understand where the author is coming from. We as a society are not caring about the education our children are getting. We are believing what our politicians say and shrugging our shoulders and saying "oh well we can work with this." Students are not reading, writing or using critical thinking anymore all because they are taught to a test. I wish more people like this author demanded change for our children.

The article made great points and was emotionally impacting. I would like to know the authors name. It was a good essay though it could have more research.

This is a thoughtful and well-written essay that explores the problems that legislation have created for teachers recently (especially in New York).
