Since the first time I laid hands on a Wii Classic Controller at a friend's playing some of his Virtual Console games I had thought "It'd be sweet if there was a way to use this on PC." Unfortunately the only available method at the time required too much extra stuff beyond just the controller itself for it to even be worth it to me; a Wii-mote ($39), a Blue-tooth dongle, and Glovepie or Blue Soleil, the latter being a pay-to-use software. Also from what I heard you needed to re-sync the device every time you wanted to use it... I was thinking more along the lines of just a straight up direct USB connection, and that is exactly what the fine folks at Mayflash have made.

I got the CC to USB adapter in early Janurary to replace a 2 port PSX/PS2 pad to USB adapter I'd been using before (also from Mayflash).

Right out of the box this unit is fully USB HID compliant, every button, every stick and pressure sensitive slider shows up in Windows Gamepad Setup. You don't even need the software disc that comes with it and to be honest, there isn't much the bundled software can do that Joy2Key can't do better and using J2K you can also use the gamepad for more than just games.

I have two profiles for every emulator I use (one for actually playing the game, and one where Select is Escape / Alt-Enter, analog stick is mouse cursor, dpad navigates the romlist one by one, L and R are mouse wheel scroll for faster rom list browsing and Y is left click to load a game). I have the Home button set up in J2K as my Profile Switcher (so long as the last profile is set to switch to the first, they will loop continuously).

With this set up I can change games or even change emulators without getting up from the couch (got Svideo running to the TV for a more authentic feel).

This converter is actually pretty good. Each and every button is read properly, and the analog sticks also work. Also, not only does it let you use the Classic Controllers, but it does work with the Classic Controller Pros. That, and if you plug in 2 controllers, it registers each as its own individual driver. I just tested it with my Classic Controllers...everything works 100% fine. I had issues, though, with getting it to work at first. Maybe it's just the converter I got, or an issue with the converter overall, but I had to have the controller(s) plugged in before I can use them. After I figured that out, though, everything was read properly on my computer.

The converter does let you use the controllers on a PS3, but it is not read properly and buttons have crazy mappings...and the L and R buttons do not function...so not a good idea if you're looking to use this on a PS3.

Other than that, I'd 100% recommend buying one of these if you're into emulators and whatnot.

This device certainly served the purpose it was built for (until a newer model with ASIN "B0089O4EB0" came out, and the manufacturer simply decided to discontinue the product, and its support (like most major businesses do), which caused Windows to not even recognize the device anymore! This occurred shortly after the A-to-Z guarantee filing period expired! What a rip-off! I had to give the product 1-Star for this reason!

If you're looking for the current REAL deal these days, you're better off searching on Amazon (powered by A9 Search) for this:

ASIN B0089O4EB0

I hope this helps, and I do hope the same thing doesn't happen to occur again! If it does, I may have to make arrangements with Amazon and MayFlash to start a group conversation (because I'm simply fed up with every single product I buy from Amazon being discontinued shortly after A-to-Z filing period expires! It just makes me extremely angry, and the situation a whole lot worse)!

I'm sorry if this is too picky, but when it's used with a Club Nintendo Super Famicom classic controller, the shoulder buttons are not detected and therefore makes using a SNES controller for SNES emulation impossible. This is an admittedly rare scenario because this is a very rare controller, but I am posting this review so any potential buyer is aware if this.

Adapter does essentially what it says, allows you to connect one or two Wii Classic or Classic Pro controllers to your pc - however, don't expect it to totally replace a dedicated PC game controller - it doesn't. I tried this with Madden 08 for the PC - some key buttons don't function, others can't be programmed properly. Tried to reprogram, download the software updates, but nothing helped. It works with some basic games that only require basic four or five button control or one joystick pad, but if using it for complex eight or nine button games like Madden or NBA Live, forget it. I now must go back and try to find a true PC game controller - I thought I could save bucks by using the Wii controllers I already had, but no dice. It works great for what it works for, but this is not for everyone or for every game.

The cord could be a little longer, but oh well. Buttons are mapped like the x-box controller so A&B as well as X&Y buttons are swapped on my pro controllers. I like this and its perfect this way so when playing with my xbox controller and other people, the button config is the same over all.
