I purchased my antenna at the start of the DTV transition, when the FCC had decided they were going to reclaim ALL VHF channels, and re-allocate all TV stations to UHF frequencies. Therefore, mine is the PR-9032 (the only difference is that the feedpoint of the HD-9032 has a built-in 75 ohm balun, which allows you to connect coax directly... on mine I simply had to add the included outdoor balun...)

For those concerned about the "construction quality" of this antenna, let me just say, I live in a VERY windy area, and mine has been up since 2007. Of course, being a gov't operation, the FCC changed their mind(s) about what frequencies they would swipe from the broadcast TV service, and instead of reclaiming all VHF frequencies, they instead decided to reclaim UHF frequencies above TV channel 52, and re-allocated many of my local channels BACK to VHF, which required me to later purchase a Winegard YA-1713 yagi, that I combined with this antenna 4 feet apart (with the UHF on top) using an early dual-input Channel Master CM-7777 preamp. (I love the dual input feature of this preamp... too bad current models offer a single input, requiring you to use a separate combiner, and try to make it weather-proof ;-)

If you check the spec's of this antenna, you will find its gain exceeds the Channel Master HD4228, for less than 1/2 the price. In fact, you can purchase both the YA-1713 VHF AND the HD-9032 for less than the price of the Channel Master, and the pair will certainly outperform the CM-4228. The downside of any antenna with this MUCH GAIN is that it is VERY directional. In some cases, I can only receive a particular fringe channel within a 10 degree window of orientation...but IMHO, that's what's sweet about it...

I installed this in my attic in an attempt to receive stations from Madison Wisconsin, 65 plus miles to the north. I picked up a total of 17 stations when connected. Very happy. I can also receive local stations that are approximately 25 degrees off from my orientation. Very strong signal on all stations.

I am changing my review somewhat. I live over 65 miles from the signal for most of my channels, they all are on a close compass setting. However there is enough difference over that distance that I could not receive all of the local channels without having to compromise signals on some. Moving this antenna 1 to 2 inches changes its reception. I traded it for a Xtreme Signal HDB8X-NI 8-Bay VHF/UHF HDTV Bowtie that is less directional (listed as a 60 degree). I aimed it approximately where the Winegard was and checked signal on the TV. 10 bars on all channels, no drop outs at all. I tightened it down and left it there. Both are good antennas but the Winegard is highly directional.

This is a very good antenna if you know what you are doing. It is very directional. I have installed quite a few antennas for myself and friends. I replaced a smaller 15 years old antenna with this one. The older one was built from much heavier material and still worked well but was slowly falling apart. I started with compass settings from antennaweb.org and slowly moved it insmall increments
side to side and tilting it up slightly until i got the best picture. It takes time and patients. This one is made of light materials and is over 100 inches. I live in So. Calif. in an area where I get good signals on most all channels. This antenna brings in the same signal strength as my old one, no better. For the price it was a good investment, who wants to pay for compressed cable and sat. dish signals when there is so much for free almost all in high def for free!

Good electrical performance. The antenna is made of very thin gauge aluminum making it very fragile. The aluminum is not anodized. Using it with a rotor to capture signals from as far as 65 miles (line of sight). With about 90 feet of RG6 cable I opted for a rooftop mounted pre-amp. I'm using this with conjunction of a VHF antenna mounted above this one on same mast and a VHF-UHF combining Channel Master pre-amp. Later I found out I could have achieved acceptable performance with a much smaller single combination antenna. Due to the length of my coaxial cable the rooftop mounted amplifier makes the difference.

Great antenna. I bought it specifically to pick up US stations from Buffalo, a little more than 120km away from Kitchener. It works as good as I hoped it would. On many days I can pick up the US networks in crystal clear HD. Weather affects reception though. This distance is about the longest distance that TV signals can be received due to the curve of the earth, unless you live on a tall mountain.

I have it pointed at a tower 70 miles out. Tower is for the Ion Network and has 5 subchannels. The single is 2-Edge and from what tvfool.com, rabbitears.info, and dtv.gov report I technically shouldn't be getting this channel. It comes in loud and clear at 70%. Cable run is ~125ft with a amp splitter in the middle. I tried picking it up with a Winegard HD7694P and it was unsuccessful.
