The 18-Inch 4.0 HP 15.0 Amp chainsaw is a cut above the rest. The WORX exclusive, patented tool-free chain replacement and auto-tensioning system eliminates the headaches faced with most other chain saws. You don't need to be a lumberjack to operate a chainsaw. The auto-tension system includes a single, oversized knob that secures the bar and chain and maintains proper tension during operation-automatically. The WORX auto-tensioning system also works to extend bar and chain life by eliminating any chance of over-tightening. What's more, all-metal dogs at the base of the long, 18-inch bar help add stability during cutting, while an easy-to-lubricate sprocket on the bar nose helps preserve the life of the tool. Powerful enough for your toughest jobs, the WORX electric chain saws produce anywhere from 4.0 peak horsepower. The WORX 18-Inch chainsaw also offers gas-free, hassle-free operation. Different from gas-powered chain saws, our electric chain saw doesn't require you to mix oil and gas or deal with difficult startups. And unlike the competition, the WORX features an automatic oiler that provides constant lubrication to both the bar and chain. Each WORX chain saw is equipped with a 6.75-ounce oil reservoir with an oil level indicator. Designed for Safety and Comfort. The WORX chain saws include a built-in safety chain brake that stops the chain in seconds when improper contact is made, protecting you in the event of kickback. Additionally, a rubber over-molded rear handle and ergonomic full-wrap front handle provide optimum operator control and comfort. POINTS TO REMEMBER: 1) Remove oil cap and immediately restore it after operation. This relieves any pressure during the oiling process. 2) Allow the saw to cool down before storing. 3) Remove oil from saw before storage. 4) Wipe down the saw sprocket area 5) Use only enough oil for the task at hand
The WORX WG304.1 18-inch Chain Saw is a robust and lightweight power tool that is perfect for quick, easy jobs around your yard or farm, such as cutting firewood, clearing brush, trimming trees, and more. In addition, the WG304.1 produces no harmful emissions and has minimal operating costs when compared to gas-powered chain saws.

After topping the tree, I came down to where the trunk forked into 2 huge limbs that were each 13 inches in diameter. I know some will doubt me but this saw went through them like hot butter!!! This left me with the main trunk and like I stated earlier, it was 21 inches thru... I cut it about 6 inches above the ground and working my way around 3 sides of it, the saw went right through it. I did cut it about halfway thru and then drove a wooden wedge in behind the blade to keep it from pinching. I can not say enough about how GOOD and POWERFUL this saw is. When ordering I ordered an extra chain, a quart of bar oil, and a heavy duty 100ft 15amp extension cord. I needed the cord, but could have saved money by not purchasing the chain and oil because the tree is now completely cut-up and the chain is still sharp... and the bar oil reservoir still has oil in it (using only the oil that came with the saw). If you're looking for a commercial saw, this wouldn't be it, but for work around your house.. THIS SAW WILL DO THE JOB! and.... You'll never have to mix gas & oil again!!!.... me either! :) With a generator you can cut wood anywhere!! lol
I hardly ever post reviews, but I'm amazed how far technology has come, and the power this electric saw has... It's no toy!!!
This chainsaw requires no gas. Just a long extension cord. I needed to cut slabs off a massive trunk that is about 4ft in diameter, its a massive trunk. This thing sawed right through it like butter. Since I had the chainsaw out and was feeling like a viking, I decided that by March it was time to take the 22ft Christmas tree down and cut her into pieces. This thing made it a simple breeze. Its pretty quiet as well. I also had a ton of fun if that counts for anything.
Top reviews from other countries
- It's got excellent power and 2" over the similar WG303 model. When cutting larger logs, that extra two inches comes in handy.
- Out of the box, the chain was nice and sharp.
- I haven't had issues with it leaking oil, excessive oil use, or the chain jumping off like other saw reviews.
- Compared to a gas chainsaw, it's comparatively quiet.
- If you lift off the trigger, the chain immediately stops. This is a nice safety fallback that I thankfully haven't had to use.
- The tensioner doesn't require any additional tools.
Now for the bad:
- The way the chain tensioner is designed, it makes it difficult to get a proper amount of tension on the chain. Cranking the tension knob by hand doesn't always get it tight enough, and there's no other way to make it tighter (to prevent the chain from slapping around). Despite it not taking any tools to adjust the tension, I'd rather have the inconvenience of having to use a tool to tension it if that means I can actually get a proper amount of tension on it.
- The drive train consists of basically two gears - a metal one attached to the motor and a plastic one attached to the drive sprocket. That's right - a plastic gear taking power from a 15 amp motor. After a few hours of use, mine completely disintegrated. To make it worse, I'm not the only one who has had this issue, and there's no replacement part. So basically I got a few good hours of use out of it, only to have it fail on a single cheap part, and I'm left with no way to fix it.
I almost wish I could return this, but I suspect I'm past the return policy period. In my mind, using a plastic gear where you know it is going to encounter a reasonable amount of force like that is an engineering flaw, and really is the fault of the manufacturer. I'm not really so much mad at Worx, more just disappointed. Disappointed that they'd consider using plastic in such a load-bearing piece, and disappointed that I didn't save my money and go for a Makita or Stihl electric chainsaw instead.
It came fully assembled, just needed to pour in the little bottle of chain/bar oil and to tighten the chain. (chain is attached for shipping)
Positives: Tightening the chain is a really nice design, much easier than most tools. It requires no additional tools to do it, just a knob to turn. It is very light (recall, I am not a lumberjack), and well balanced, easy to handle and direct. I never felt the tool was pulling or handling me. I was controlling it. I wore sound-dampening headphones, and a face mask, and I found the tool was not horribly noisy, it was surprisingly modest in noise (much less than gas ones I have heard before)
the down side: although it comes with oil. there is only about 20-30 minutes worth, and I am using it at a cottage far from everything, so I only got one log split before I had to put everything away. (7 foot long spruce log).
I read the book, it was well (clearly) written and didn't take long to read. It also doesn't give a lot of "tips", a friend gave me some advice and I read a few posts on websites beforehand, and learned more from that/them.
if this is enough power for you, then it is a good tool, doesn't require a lot of experience, but all such tools deserve respect, get info before you use it! But, the advice I have to give: order a bottle of chain/bar oil at the same time, because it is annoying to set yourself up for a job, get out all your things and then only have a short usable time. It took me longer to find my safety gear, and set up the log for cutting, than I got to work with the tool.
