There are "books" that inspire and motivate and then there is THE WOW BOOK by Todd Durkin. I can honestly say that, in 61 years, I have never read a more genuine, honest, authentic, and relatable book than THE WOW BOOK. First of all THE WOW BOOK can be read by ANYONE from 9 to 90 years old. Mr. Durkin shares his 52 "Words-of-the-Week" through the eyes of a father, husband, son, child, friend, coach, trainer, athlete, entrepreneur, and most importantly a fellow human being and servant of God doing his very best to create positive IMPACT and WOW in his own life and in the life of others. Todd is a great storyteller and delivers 52 WOWS that will warm your heart and lift your spirit. Nearly all of the WOWS involve PEOPLE, on some level, (my personal favorite is WOW #11 - LOVE, that includes a story about Coach John Wooden). In a time of division and cynicism in our country, THE WOW BOOK has come to the rescue. Todd Durkin's UNIFYING, POSITIVE and "STRENGTHENING" - THE WOW BOOK will, I predict, be as INFLUENTIAL and SEMINAL a work as the "Chicken Soup for the SOUL" series. A lot of Learning, Listening, Leading, Loving and LIVING, I believe , made this book possible. I can't wait for the AUDIO version of THE WOW BOOK to be released. I highly recommend reading this marvelous work by Todd Durkin. Yes, I have seen (and read) the future of Inspirational and Motivational writing.
My personal training clients will receive a copy of The WOW Book to celebrate the five-year anniversary of my personal training business. I’ve read the book in full but get to read it again with my husband to inspire and motivate us in our life together.
A humble and grounded man, who is talented in a aside variety of areas, he has captured core advice in his book. His ability to inspire and motivate people in person is well known.
A star from the TV show "Strong", he rose from an underdog place to being in the Final Competition.
His unending enthusiasm, famed coaching ability, amazing athletic skills coupled with his extensive knowledge all contribute to how this book helps people.
This book is not only easy to read but fun as well.
Any time spent with T.D., whether in person, reading his posts on Facebook, watching his inspirational, motivational and informational videos or in person, is time VERY well spent!
This book has my highest recommendation!
Todd is an excellent storyteller and some of the stories I thought I wouldn’t relate to actually had the most impact for me. For example, Chapter 21 “LT” is one of my favorite chapters. I don’t follow football very closely, but I related to LT’s story in many ways. I have “heroes” in my life that I follow and try to emulate. I relate to LT’s drive and I aspire to be as disciplined and focused.
Although my favorite chapter in the whole book is chapter 6, Get Mo’ in Yo’ Life, another favorite is chapter 19, "Simplify". I opened my book to this chapter randomly, but it was exactly what I needed to read. Less is more! “Often the greatest coaches demand executing the simplest strategies…..the athletes must master the fundamentals and perfect them and then play to their strengths.” In my business, I need to help my team develop and perfect the fundamentals of our business and then play to our strengths. I have read this several times in the past week, it takes me 5 minutes to read but I think about it all day.
