It's the story of pastry chef and small business owner Shea Kenney who is starting to date after a devastating divorce. Poor thing has gotten on a dating website, the kind where you swipe left or right, and not having much luck until she stumbles upon the profile of a former coworker, Aidan Meyer. Aidan was someone who she always found attractive, but she was married at the time. That is no longer a problem.
This story had me from "pastry chef." I will automatically buy books about heroines who are bakers or scientists or heroes who are scientists or accountants. Shea is anxious about dating since she married her former husband right out of high school and doesn't have experience on the dating scene. Aidan is just a sweetheart. Yes, he's hot, but he's so sweet and caring and patient with Shea and that's what I loved about him.
Characters from the other books show up. I hadn't read those books, so I just scrolled on past them. If you have read the other books in the FIT series, I'm sure this book would be a treat. It's like a Hallmark holiday movie...except with sex. If that's your jam (and that's mine), then this is your book.
Aidan and Shae are adorable. I love the established history, how Aidan has been holding on to a crush for ages, and just... The goopy softness of their developing relationship. They're lowkey relationship goals, to be honest. And as always, Rebekah writes some of the steamiest sex scenes I'm the genre so that's a pleasure to read.
If you've always wanted your Hallmark holiday movies to have a little more heat to them... Check out Wrapped immediately!
his is a fun Christmas romance with a lot of dating and cupcakes but that sweetness is evened out with the hard truth that divorce hurts and it takes a while to heal.
Shae has always liked Aiden and Aiden has liked Shae but Shae was married and then they changed jobs.
Now, Shae is single and find Aiden on a dating app. Aiden is over the top ginger hot and super nice. Shae has a great circle of friends and family but really risking her heart again freaks her out.
Aiden is willing to hang in there and it is a lovely romance with Christmas shine.
Disclaimer: I'm acquainted with the author IRL. Also, I have lately developed a thirst for slightly nerdy, bespeckled men with red hair.
If you hate all the trimmings of Christmas: decorations, music, movies, family events, and delicious food, you may not like this. Especially the last - this will make you hungry!
