I've been playing these wrestling games for a long time, since 'Smackdown: Just Bring It'. My absolute favorite and still to this day is 'Here Comes The Pain'. Since then, these wrestling games have been rather disappointing, with a few exceptions along the way. Last year's 'WWE 2k14' game was actually really enjoyable, and I was very excited for this new game to be on PS4. However, it just doesn't quite deliver.

A big reason why I pre-ordered this game was the MyCareer mode. I've heard great things about 2K's career mode in their basketball game and I felt positive that they were going to have a stellar mode for my CAW. They didn't. There's a few aspects they handled well, but there's hardly any cut-scenes or interactions backstage with other superstars. My CAW can upgrade and practice which is nice, but besides that, I have little options to becoming a heel or a face. I wanted this mode to be similar to the season mode in 'Here Comes The Pain'. A 15 year career sounds impressive, but your CAW only wrestles like one match a month, so your career is not THAT long. And the A.I. in this mode is unstable; you'll dominate a superstar one match, then in the next match you'll get destroyed, then in the following match you'll win again, and then you'll lose and win and lose and win and lose. Also, you'll get the same text messages over and over from Vicky Guerrero, and you'll chose between the same three match types over and over, and it gets stale quick. A side note, I read in articles that it does not matter if you win or lose, you can still gain lots of points to level up, but that's rare. When you win, you'll gain higher points and when you lose, you'll get hardly anything.

GRAPHICS - The graphics are incredible. Definitely the highlight of the game.

I've been playing Wrestling video games for a long time. Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy were what I cut my teeth on. Even when I'm not watching Wrestling, I can still be found playing wrestling games. I was big fan of WWE'12, which has its own flaws, in that I felt the game finally hit the right balance. I enjoyed the story mode of WWE'13 but the mechanics seemed weak. WWE 2k14 came along and seemed to be the perfect balance between the gameplay and universe mode of WWE'12 and the better "story mode" - just replaying classic Wrestlemania matches - of WWE'13. However, 2k14 made some great decisions giving players 100 create-a-wrestler spots, the extensive and barely curated 2k14 online user submitted custom wrestlers. It was the game that understood most people buy the game to create wrestlers and play Universe Mode.

2k15 should have been the herald of a new generation. It should have reinvented the wheel, but instead it fails at almost everything. The story mode is tepid and boring to play. The create-a-wrestler mode has been gutted with few options, few ways to customize and a very limited and insanely censored user submitted wrestler section. The gameplay is slow. And not just the introduction of the starting grapple, which actually isn't bad. But it's overused and it gets in the way of the wrasslin'. The wrestling feels slow, moving feels slow, characters get tired too easily. A few matches I won just because people got tired outside the ring. It's poorly devised. The match options are limited, you can't make an elimination fatal four-way. It just feels so... limited.

There are a few plus sides. The wrestlers whose faces were scanned look amazing. Cesaro, Reigns, Triple H, CM Punk all look fantastic.

I am a big fan of wrestling games, I have been playing since Wrestlemania Challenge on the NES. I feel like the games peaked around the time of WCW vs NWO Revenge, Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy on the Nintendo 64. However I keep buying the games each year in the hope they may recapture the magic of those games, This years edition (WWE 2K15) was a HUGE step backwards!

Being the first wrestling game on the Playstation 4 I had high expectations, these expectations were dashed within the first 10 minutes of me playing. I started a career mode, created my wrestler and then it shows me in the WWE developmental territory (NXT) where Bill DeMott yells at me for 5 minutes in a video scene that I can't skip, I have to listen to Hugh Morris tell me I am not good enough to make it in the WWE for 5 minutes before I can play (STRIKE 1)

They then randomly select me and another wrestler to compete for a spot in NXT (I was almost expecting them to pick 2 other people and make me watch them wrestle at this point) I start to wrestle using my muscle memory from WWE 2K14 on the PS3 but then instructions flash up, guess what? We have made the controls WAYYY more complicated so now you must spin your L3 and R3 in specific directions to perform moves (STRIKE 2).

If that wasn't bad enough old mate Bill DeMott is yelling at me on the outside of the ring saying the same 4 try hard phrases over and over while I attempt to make the most of my boring matches (STRIKE 3). The WWE 2K franchise took what was a pretty good model and messed it up big time with this 2K15. I haven't been this disappointed in the WWE since that terrible booking of Brock Lesnar going over the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 30 (I will never forgive or forget)

Here is my tip for you WWE/2K...
