WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 builds nicely on the 2009 edition and has made some key additions. The Royal Rumble match has always been a favorite of mine and this year there are several new ways to eliminate your opponents. With some characters you can incorporate your finisher into an elimination. The wrestlers entering and leaving the Rumble match are displayed in a much more realistic way than in previous versions of the game. A lot of move animations have been redone such as moves off the top rope, irish whips, taunts, and entrances. Most of the bumps that are taken look more realistic than last year, and they weren't bad before. The commentary is the best it's ever been in a game. Of course it can be annoying at times but at least they are calling the action accurately and with good timing. The roster is stronger than it has been in several years including the return of Legends (not many, but Very significant ones i.e. Stone Cold and The Rock). I haven't gotten far into the storylines but there is so much to customize in this game such as Create-a-Superstar, moves, and the actual stories. You can use your created wrestler in the Road To Wrestlemania mode. The presentation and detail of the game are tremendously strong as well. It will take time to determine exactly how good this game is compared to its predecessors. But the fact that this caliber game is still being made for the PS2 gives hope to those trying to avoid the costs of current generation gaming.

overall this game is not bad but it lacks wrestlers and you can not download created wrestlers (I think like the Xobox 360 and PS3 you can) makin this game just plain it was also the end of regular downloads (in the Xbox 360 and PS3) and start of a greaddy down hill with expansion packs and charge to play on line not fun anymore (on the Xbox 360 or PS3) I really wish they would go back to the formula like in SVR07 but with better inputs in details of the game play

I purchased this as a Christmas gift, it came late (after Christmas) due to weather problems. Once it got here it was clearly used, even though no where in the description does it say used. The game was scratched, came with no leaflets and did not work. I had to complain to Amazon to get a refund.

This game can be a lot of fun.. but can also be terribly frustrating. I'll begin with my biggest issue regarding this game and that's the fact that if I play anything beyond a 1 v 1 match (2v2,3v3, elimination chamber etc. etc.) basically any fun type of match the game will begin to freeze up and drop down to an insanely low framerate at random intervals. Then like magic it speeds back up to normal speed only to repeat this on and on throughout the match. 1 v 1 is literally the only type of match you can play and enjoy in this game (not sure if it's just the ps2 version, but that's the only version I can speak for).

It's a shame too because the game had potential to be the best of the series but this is too much of a black eye for any game to bounce back from.

One other very annoying thing I noticed; the effect that takes place during finishers is cool and all but it seems as if the sound that is made during the snapping of lights gets hung up on a loop of sorts during The People's Elbow. It's so bad that I have to disable camera cuts if I plan on using the Rock so I save my ears the pain this noise causes.

I will add the positives to be fair. This is without a doubt, the smoothest gameplay of the series. You chain moves as if it you were watching a real wrestling match; it can be hypnotizing at times. Very pleasing to the eye to say the least.

The graphics are good, but I'd still argue the appearances were more accurate/better rendered in SVR07 (my favorite game of the series).

I just got the game today and I have to say that I was a little disapointed with the create a superstar mode. It's exactly the same as the 2009! I heard THQ was going to put some new stuff in the CAW mode, like new clothing, hats etc. But I found out that it was for the new gen systems. I felt somewhat jipped at that. But if you can get past that the game is pretty good. The newest and coolest feature is the create a story mode. You'll have a blast with that. The roster is good and large. And the graphics look a little better than the 2009. There is no HUD in this game, except a momentum meter located at the bottom of your superstar's feet. To tell if your opponent is severly damaged you'll have to focus on the body language. (like if he's holding his stomach)The abilities are still here but they've taken out Submission, K.O., Cage Match, Ladder Match, & Table Match. And replaced them with 5 new ones... Ring escape, Exploder Turnbuckle attack, Strong Strike, Pull Back Attacks, & Fired Up! (Fired Up is the best one, because you can do 3 finishes in a row!)

The Royal Rumble has vastly improved as well. This game there's more than one way to eliminate your opponent. There is mini games to eliminating them as well. (which is more realistic) Like if your opponent is laying on the apron there is a mini game you can do to kick him out to the floor. They also brought back the interfernce option for matches. (I missed that) I guess THQ wanted to make it so it looked like WWE programming, which I think brings a new element into the game.

Also building up your CAW isn't a long bore like it was in the 2009 edition. No longer do you have to sit through a long and boring career mode for your caw.Now THQ has it so that you can build up your caw outside of career mode.
