The Original Whirley-Pop stovetop hand-crank popcorn popper brings it all back with its one-of-a-kind design. You can enjoy light, flavorful popcorn (makes up to six quarts) that you prepare yourself right on the stovetop in just three minutes.
Face it, sometimes the best thing about going out to a movie is the popcorn, those big plump kernels that always seem so much better than what you pop at home. But this simple stovetop popper changes all that. It really does make awesome, fresh-popped corn that might make you start renting videos instead. The sturdy aluminum pan has a clip-on lid with a stay-cool wooden handle. A turn crank on the handle spins the key element: the stainless steel stirring system that keeps the corn moving across the bottom of the pan, for even heat and oil distribution, ensuring the best popping results. The lid has steam vents, to help keep the popcorn dry and crisp. The enclosed booklet is a wonderful resource, with not only clear and detailed instructions, but also dozens of recipes and popcorn history and lore. These are folks who really do know their popcorn, and the results are outstanding. --Cynthia Nims

I wrote off Whirly Pop as a possibility for me mainly because my cooking surface is induction and it simply would not work. Also, I thought the plastic gears and function SEEMED a little on the cheap/poor quality side WITH THE AMOUNT I use it. The Whirley Pop is a great popper and is perfect for most home users. I do not insinuate the plastic mechanism does not function well.
I just came back in the market for a new popper since my small commercial popper died. My research for a new popper revealed the Stainless Steal model of Whirley Pop. I had no idea they made one. This is THE BEST of THE BEST - even if you do not have an induction cooktop. It will work with any method and I imagine is pretty awesome on gas. The quality is top notch and the look and feel are great - but do those extra perks really matter? Not at the end of the day. They are just great perks and well loved ones at that.
What really matters is the popcorn. I have never had a popper that I love as much as this one. It's use is just as customizable as the connoisseurs that use it. It is awesome!
The bottom line is that it is the BEST corn popper on the market for home use (and even for commercial use I imagine if you have an available heat source). The clean up is so easy and the popcorn is perfection. Thank You Wabash Valley Farms for upgrading your amazing corn popper.
We buy grocery store popcorn, canola oil and use "popcorn salt" which we purchase at Uncle Bob's here in Tucson, AZ. That's it. Soooo good.
I bought this two months ago, and I have used it literally every day since. I have popcorn for lunch every day. I usually use 1/3 a cup of popcorn, some coconut oil, salt, splenda, and nutritional yeast. It provides a tasty lower calorie lunch for me, and so delicious.
I seem to be able to use a maximum of a little under half a cup at a time in the popper, but this makes a LOT of popcorn. I can fill up two gigantic bowls with that. It is really super easy to use. Just throw some oil and popcorn in. I give it a few minutes on high and start cranking. I have never had the burnt popcorn issue of microwave popcorn.
I usually only end up with 3 or 4 unpopped kernels. It seems to evenly heat well. I also haven't really had any issue with the gears. If I have too much popcorn in there and it gets stuck together I will have issues turning the crank, but at that point it is usually done popping.
Cleaning is a breeze. I just wipe it out with a paper towel and it is good to go. Don't need to wash it because the little bit of leftover oil prevents sticking next time. You do have to season it on first use, but usually just a little bit of oil rubbed all over the inside and heated up works fine.
Whenever I go to parties or hangouts I bring a big bowl of homemade popcorn and everyone loves it. Usually very quick to go. Thank you Whirley Pop for introducing me to my love of popcorn. Now if it would help with kernels in my teeth I would be set!
