Never the less one must at least admire the ability of the Germans to launch this final offensive in a co-ordinated manner and regain as much ground as they did only two months before the final capitulation of the Third Reich, as well as the bravery of the German soldiers to march into what would be ultimate defeat in the promise of final victory.
Unfortunately this offensive, like so many before it, was but the final whim of an ever more desperate dictator, who contained to the very end to sap the strength of his military forces rather than admit them to the final task to which they were suited, the defence of the German Fatherland from the incoming allies. In one ironic twist of fate which I am sure we can all agree upon, is that we should be glad the offensive did take place, for it guaranteed the hastened defeat of Germany and an earlier end to the war even by just a few days.
Overall this article should be enjoyed by any military enthusiast of World War Two
