Great waffle maker but beware of the chime..

This is an excellent waffle maker. Seems to be well made and can turn out a golen, fluffy waffle in about 2-3 minutes. The only reason I do not give it a 5 star review, is that it has a chime that it makes when it reaches its target temperature. This is not a calm, friendly jingle. This temperature chime is loud and jarring. I thought that I had set off the smoke alarm the first time I used it. This chime is 4 long beeps and it will make this chime every time you make a new waffle. I do realize that this is to indicate when the waffle is finished without having to lift the lid. I will be taking it apart soon to see if i can disable the "banshee shriek" function. Despite this loud wailing, this is an excellent product for the production of breakfast pastries.

I read through the reviews before purchase, however I wish I would have read the most recent. Apparently this last batch has been defective. I cooked this waffle for over 10 minutes on the max setting and never could get it to brown correctly. I tried 2 different batters and still no luck. Also, many of the past reviews mentioned a buzzer that went off when the waffle was done, this one had no buzzer.

I tried making waffles in this three time and then begun to request my return. Each time the waffle was half undercooked and even burnt is some spots. I decided to try it one more time before setting it out for UPS pick up for return and FINALLY made a decent batch of waffles.

The trick is do NOT use ANY kind of spray, butter or other non stick oil. Put your mix in the are waffle maker. Make sure it’s turned on max and leave it in there for longer than when the light tells you it’s ready, checking it periodically. By doing this I was able to finally make regular edible waffles that were all the way cooked through.

If this is too much for you, I suggest finding another waffle maker...but I will say finding a traditional American/non Belgian waffle maker that isn’t restaurant price is difficult.

I wanted THIN old fashion waffles, NOT "Belgian" waffles. A lot of the reviewers are ... "unknowledgeable." It's not poorly, loosely made. THAT is the Way Waffle Makers are ... loose fitting tops because ... waffles RISE! Personally I found I needed to use a higher temperature setting ... 9 ... in order to get crispy waffles. When you first take the waffle out, when nicely browned, it's a bit soft but crisps up shortly. I'm using the KRUSTEAZ Belgian Waffle Mix, although the Cucina basic recipe sounds great, ie. separating the eggs, whipping the whites and folding them in last ... like my mom use to do.

I waited and ended up paying $10 more for mine than I did for my daughters. Honestly that didn’t bother me at all because my daughters is still going strong. I was willing to pay extra to know exactly what I was getting. This is definitely 5⭐️ I would give more stars if the option was available!
