I was (not so) patiently waiting for the release of The Wager after reading The Bet. I must say...I am not disappointed. The book was amazing. I haven't laughed this much in a long time. I love grandma Nadine and can only hope there is more books to come with her meddling involved. She was hysterical. I felt like I was there watching all the plotting come together. The change in Jake was wonderful and Char was fantastic. The chemistry between the two of them was hot! I was also glad that we got to see more of Kasey and Travis. I teared up at their wedding and the honeymoon was a riot!! Please, please buy this book. You won't be disappointed!!

Rachel Van Dyken's The Bet will always have a special place in my heart, not just because it was the first book I reviewed for my blog, but because the complicated love triangle between the Titus brothers and their childhood friend, Kacey one of the funniest, sweetest, and most heartwarming stories I've had the pleasure of reading. In The Wager, Jake Titus gets to redeem himself from his previous womanizing ways when he comes in close contact with childhood friend and former fling, Char Lynn. Sparks fly between Jake and Char, and there is never a dull moment throughout the story as they get swept up in the never-ending chaos courtesy of good ole Grandma Nadine.

Rachel Van Dyken uses a multi-narrator format in The Wager, which I absolutely love because it allows readers to connect with four different protagonists and to follow their separate storylines to completion. While The Wager is in large part the story of Jake and Char, former protagonists, Travis and Kacey, also contribute to the narrative. The stories of the two couples seamlessly interweave with each other, bringing a double dose of romance, joy and laughter to the book.

Much like with Travis and Kacey, the chemistry between Jake and Char is so potent that it erupts in spontaneous bouts of passion, which take form in either heated arguments or steamy kisses... and sometimes both. The atmosphere surrounding the couple is equal parts playful and hostile, with their shared history offering ammunition for their incessant verbal clashes. Aside from wanting to kick Jake in the nuts every so often, I genuinely enjoyed his and Char's witty banter.

I absolutely loved this book! I loved book one The Bet and this one only got better! Grandma Nadine is truly an amazing woman who you can't help but love and die of laughter from.

This is Jake's story!

Jake is your millionaire playboy who goes through women like he goes through underwear. He has yet to find a girl who can make him want to settle down and be a different guy. There was a girl when he was younger Char who he crushed on but never pursued and eventually they lost contact. When they did meet up and hook-up with nothing more. Why? Because Jake doesn't do relationships or commitment. So in turn he left without a word and has been living the dream life, only it's not his dream anymore.

Char...the one guy she fell in love with at a young age is nothing but an ass. He broke her heart on more than one occasion and she will never give him another second of her time. When he should have stepped up and been there for her he wasn't, he never was, so what did she expect? Jake Titus is not your knight and shining armor.

When Travis and Kacey decide to get married of course her two best friends growing up are going to be in their wedding. Char is Kacey's maid of honor and Jake (Travis' little brother) is his best man.

When Char and Jake end up taking the same flight home Char cannot resist the urge to wipe that smug look he has on his face. Now Char looks a little different, her hair is longer etc. it's been almost a year since she last saw him when he had sex with her and then vanished without a word. She takes matters into her own hands and plays the scorned woman. When she finally sees the lady beside Jake she is shocked that he is dating someone more than twice his age then she learns is his grandma....

This book was amazing!!! Everyone wants a Grandma Nadine after it! The meddling, the manipulating, it was all well played. This is #2 in The Bet series and I was hesitant to get too excited for a book about Jake because he was such a selfish bastard in the first one but since I saw a twinkling of a heart and the teasers for this one told me he just might be able to change, I gave it a chance. I am oh so glad I did, too!

So the story... in The Bet #1 Jake manipulates his childhood best friend Kacey into faking an engagement with him to please his family due to his playboy ways being posted all throughout the tabloids. He has no idea his brother Travis has been in love with her forever but inevitably, Travis, the good-looking, loving, caring, "Satan" of her childhood wins the girl.

In the beginning of this book, Grandma Nadine, with the best intentions, sets out to "ruin" Jake. She first demotes him from CEO of her company and then fires him to try to help him gain sight of his life. Thus begins the meddling. Well, continues the meddling full speed ahead. ;)

Rachel Van Dyken is truly talented in engaging her readers to a truly beautiful story. There are so many laughs and some heart catching moments and so many smiles all rolled into this delicious 299 page book.

JUST READ IT! You won't be sorry :)
