On the positive side this is easy to use. It has on-the-fly, easy to set, variable spray volume and patterns. On the lowest settings, you can almost do fine artwork with a little practice. When it is set to maximum it puts out a lot of spray. I painted my 39,000 gallon, 9 feet deep, 1400 square foot swimming pool in just one half day. Although I have a high end air compressor, if I wanted that type of sprayer - like a DeVilbiss - but hauling out a lot of air hose and the heavy compressor is a pain. I just used a 14 gauge, 75 foot extension cord.
I liked that I could just fill the paint cup, screw it back on and paint right away. There is no syphoning to be done as with some other models. Most of the small plastic parts are close to precision and are immune to solvents like paint thinner, lacquer thinner and Xylene. The little motor is high speed and pushes air mixed with the paint through the venturi with no clogging. The paint I used was rubber based, very thick pool paint.
I found that the paint reservoir of 1.5 quarts was as heavy as I could handle when spraying overhead. That size lasts about 15 to 20 minutes on full spray, but it is easy to refill with it's wide mouth.
Although with practice it was easy to disassemble and reassemble the 8 or 9 parts that need to be cleaned after each use, on the negative side I did not like taking apart that many parts. Also, the flimsy little foam filters that protected the motor's air input almost clogged up with airborne paint spray. I recommend removing the filters and cleaning them with solvent frequently. They are readily accessible and clean up easy, but the more you handle them the fibers tend to disintegrate.
If you are going to spray something that only takes 15 minutes, it is a pain to spend 30-45 minutes cleaning. If you don't clean off every part back to like new, you'll find yourself with an inoperable sprayer the next time you try to use it.
I recommend this sprayer for any job - just keep in mind to thoroughly clean the paint off every tiny part.
