The 120-volt power steamer provides powerful steam that you control with a pull of the power trigger. An illuminated green power light indicates that the steamer is ready to begin steaming; the red light indicates that the heating element is making steam. (The red light will come on when the water temperature reaches 135 degrees F.) Two modes of operation release steam continuously or intermittently, so you can match the cleaning or wallpaper removal power to the job at hand. The steamer's wheels move smoothly across all surfaces for easy use.

Once it was ready, I started with the brass nozzle and cleaned my bathtub and shower. It worked very well with a bit of elbow grease to remove all the build up in the grout and around the shower head which are always a pain to keep clean. It was very easy to clean the areas around my faucet that are too narrow to clean with anything other than a toothbrush. I also did some polishing up of the toilet and the toddler seats and felt really great about the idea of disinfecting everything without chemicals. I had wanted a versatile cleaner like this for some time as my mother has a nice one that I've always been jealous of, but it costs her $40 every time she needs to refill the chemicals and they go pretty fast with regular use. As a result, she doesn't use it as much as she would like to. Not so with this steamer! I absolutely love that it's just tap water. So easy and simple. The manual does warn that over time you can get mineral build up from using non-distilled water but gives you clear directions on how to clean that up so I'm sure it won't be an issue when/if it happens.
Before finishing up with the nozzle, I found my own personal perfect use for the steamer. Cleaning my window screens! Several times a year, I have to take apart all our windows and haul the screens into the backyard to spray down with the hose. Not only is this time consuming, but it isn't all that effective. I still have to use up a ton of towels wiping them down to get them really clean. I decided to give the steamer a try on my bathroom screens and oh my gosh! Instantly clean. No scrubbing, no wiping, just clean. Even if I could use it for nothing else, I would use it for this. It will save me SO much time and headache in the long run.
Once I was done with the screen, I wanted to try the squeegee attachment on the windows and mirror. I am impatient and was annoyed that I had to wait 20 minutes for the attachment to cool before I could swap it out, so I used my oven mitt and easily took off the nozzle and replaced it with the squeegee. I'm very picky about streaky glass, and was VERY pleased that within seconds I had my mirror clean from top to bottom, even at the very top where I can't normally reach without a step ladder or climbing onto the vanity. It did leave little pools of water at the bottom but a quick wipe and it was cleaned up. And NO STREAKS!!
Finally, I put on the floor attachment and went to work on my tile. It was very quick and very simple. I left it to air dry as normal and the floor was clean in half the time with no chemicals. I love this steamer so much! It's making my family healthier thanks to being able to throw out the chemicals and it's saving me time and money. Does it get any better?!
My only gripes are the fact that there is no safety lock on the trigger for use when it's warming up and that there's no on board storage for all the accessories. I get that they wanted to keep the unit small and portable, but I have all this bulky accessories with nowhere to store them. Also, the cord is pretty short. I can imagine this is for safety reasons, but it's kind of a nuisance to keep moving it from plug to plug, even within a single room. Overall though, well worth the money!
First off, it does do a great job with certain applications. My favorite thing to blast was corner and seam build up of mildew or that weird pinkish stuff that grows in wet bathroom and kitchen seams. This isn't so much a testament to the cleaning power of the steam, but rather the force in which it expels. It's able to "blow" away that stuff from their crevices and get it out. Take for instance, toilet seat hinges (EEEWWWWWWWW). Especially if you have a male in your house that doesn't aim well. This will get in there, and get everything out. So clean a drunk frat boy could eat off of it.
It also does a good job on anything you'd think hot water would work on. Kitchen grease for instance. The one thing that REALLY surprised me was grout. This thing does a great job getting grout clean, but it sure as hell doesn't "blast" it away. You have to scrub just as hard as you would any other stubborn stain, so don't expect miracles by pointing this thing at grout and laughing maniacally as dirt gets scared and runs away.
What did it not work on so well? For starters, my grill. I really wanted my grill's metal to shine through after I pointed the Wagner at it. No such luck. I should preface, it's a new grill, only used it 4 times so far, so no considerable build up.
So as far as what it will work well on, and what it won't, here's the jist. If the thing you're trying to clean would have required you to scrub if you just used a sponge and some cleaning solution, it'll still need to be scrubbed with this. The steam merely acts as the cleaning agent, not as some miracle purifier of dirty and stained things.
I also don't like the size, although I knew that going in. Size seems to matter when it comes to power steamers, but it's just too much damn hassle to use regularly, which I'd like to. All the tools and peripherals that don't have a home on the unit (they just sit around), the 15-20 minutes of heating time, the releasing of steam and water when you're done... it's just too much to use often. I will say, once you get started, the steam lasts for a long time. Sometimes I just hold the damn hose in the air and play with the steam coming out. The downtime inbetween re-heats doesn't bother me too much. If something doesn't get clean in 1 minute of blasting, it likely will not get any cleaner with 10 minutes of straight blasting.
A big... big.. BIG minus.. is the exclusion of some sort of water level indicator. Why the heck Wagner did not build one in is beyond me. You have absolutely no idea how much water you're putting in, or how much you have left when you use it.
All in all, I bought it mainly because I've always wanted a power steamer. I've always had fantasies of pointing it at my non-existent outdoor brown wicker furniture to discover they're actually pure white, or steaming the brake dust off my non-existent BMW's wheels (which still may work, haven't tried). It does seem to do a great job of nooks and crannies, which that alone is worth it enough to me, but honestly, this thing is not going to replace a quick scrub down with some 409 and a paper towel. Cleaning solution + paper towel = 30 seconds and a clean surface. Wagner Power Steamer = 30 minutes for that exact same job. When you use it, you have to commit and just clean the whole damn house, and then your neighbors. Make it worthwhile.
