This bird seed has a mix of white millet, red milo, split corn and black sunflower seeds. I live in the Seattle area and after a few days after I started putting up feeders and reading up on the net, I have figured that almost all of the birds in this area do not touch the red milo and most of the birds love the sunflower seeds. The problem is this mix has a ton of red milo which goes to waste and very little sunflower seed and loads of white millet. Here are the birds that come to my feeder and what they eat:

1. Oregon Junco - mainly white millet & split corn
2. House finch - white millet
3. White capped chickadee - Sunflower seed
4. Chestnut backed chickadee - Sunflower seed
5. Red breasted nuthatch - Sunflower seed.
6. Northern flicker - Split Corn.
7. Stellar Jay - Split Corn.

I have another feeder with just peanuts which the chickadees, flickers and nuthatch love. So the perfect mix for the birds in my region at least would be 30% millet, 30% sunflower seeds, 20% corn, 20% peanuts. The only one that I found close but without the peanuts which I can add separately is called Nature's Song wild bird seed which has these in perfect proportions without the peanut though. The Wagners mix contains way too much red milo which I found only the doves eat which don't frequent my area at all.

This seed is a favorite with the cardinals, finch, woodpeckers and sparrows. It has less sunflower seed than expected which is what seems to attract the brilliant colored songbirds but it's a nice companion seed for a multiple feeder yard to the sunflower seed.

This bird seed is fine as bird seed goes but the ratio of big pieces of corn and sunflower seeds to the smaller song bird seed is a bit more than it should be. I have squirrel proof feeders and the the wire openings kept getting clogged with the big pieces. I finally had to use my colander to weave out some of the bigger pieces. You will do fine if you have an open feeder but if you have the little square wire covering the openings like I do, well, it's a lot of trouble.

We have blue and yellow canaries at the bird feeder for the biggest part of the day. The birds like the Wagner's 13008 wild bird seed. I paid about $14 for a 10 lb. bag of Wagner's through Amazon, where a 40 lb. bag of wild bird seed costs the same price at Wal-Mart, and the birds have continued to use the feeder filled with the Wal-Mart brand. Wagner's is certainly quality wild bird seed, but the expense is prohibitive, thus the three stars. I won't buy it again.

I am not an expert, but I will say that the cardinals and blue jays seem happy with this feed. I've had better response with a prior feed, though.

I was skeptical about the "squirrel proof" claims, but the birds like this seed, ESP. Cardinals, and the squirrels ignore it. It's more expensive but I'm going through less.

Just put the seed in, but the bag was open when I received it. Not sure if it was a storage issue on Amazon's side, or a manufacturing issue and they didn't seal it correctly (leaning more towards this one). It was taped down, and I don't think any seed go out, but I don't know if I will buy again.

I have a wide range of wild birds. This only attracts a few. To feed the colorful song birds a better mix is needed.
