As with our new 6" jointer, our new 8" model is still geared towards the budget-minded novice, but very capable of milling stock in a small pro shop. It's also manufactured to tight tolerances in a certified ISO 9001 factory and is CSA approved for performance and your safety. With the cast iron tables, our new 8" jointer only weighs about 64 lbs, making it still easily maneuvered around your shop or jobsite ... just like our older models. The cast iron tables also provide better stability during operation and are less prone to scratching. Table leveling for coplanar, if ever needed, is still easily achieved via the 4 levelers installed in each table. Even the pull out extensions are easily adjustable for coplanar if necessary. With the 34" total table length end to end, extendable to 51" with the table extensions pulled out, machine depth of around 20", and total height of about 13", it will fit in just about the same footprint as a 6" jointer. The newly incorporated spiral style cutterhead, manufactured with the same heavy duty aluminum extrusion over steel inner shaft, now provides you the cutting edge sharpness retention from having 16 carbide 4-sided insert tips installed. While being quieter than the straight knife cutterhead noise you have had to endure, you also get the smooth finish on your stock you've been looking for from the spiral design ... even on figured woods. And only having to loosen or remove one mounting screw on each insert, provides extremely quick tip rotation or replacement if the insert becomes nicked. This keeps your downtime to a minimum and your project on time. Our new 8" jointer has some of the same features as our previous highly rated models. It still has the maximum capacity of 8" width and 1/8" maximum depth of cut and a 2 ½" included dust port with 4" adapter for better chip evacuation. This model has a 4 3/8" high by 24" long extruded aluminum fence which can be easily tilted from 90 to 135 degrees with ease.

To address the WEDGE cutting fence side to front side..... make sure your OUTFEED TABLE is true to the cutter blades. ONLY adjust 1/4 turn each time as I found that the table really moves when you loosen the big screws. Once that is done, DO THE SAME ON THE INFEED TABLE !!!!! I adjusted the outfeed over an over, to find out the infeed was NOT true to the blades.... guess what, if you feed too heavy on the entrance, you will be cutting wedges !!! Test by multiple passes on a scrap 6" board at least 12-18 inches long. DO NOT ROTATE, only flip end to end keeping the SAME EDGE to the fence...... after many passes...... measure the fence side and other side of stock... if your not far off, you did good ! IT IS NOT A THICKNESS PLANER, if you want that, BUY ONE.
IN CLOSING....... this machine is AWESOME ! Packaging was FABULOUS.... SETUP WAS EASY..... WORKS GREAT.
So So So sorry I didn't get the 8" model for WIDER cuts now that I see how well this unit performs........ buy it, adjust it, and LOVE IT !!!! And again, this was not a paid or solicited review... this just is ME...... chow !
So can’t get to coplainer, doesn’t handle large boards. The extensions could help, but they too are hard to level. Finally, the fence. It flexes. The tables flex. That’s pretty much what you need to know. If you are working on little boards of say 1-3 feet in length go for it. But if you are doing bigger work, I’m not seeing it as much as I’d wish it did. Think “I’ll build I feed and out feed tables around it!” Tried that. You aren’t going to make this go regardless of your wanting to. You want a solid jointer? Go buy one. They look like.... a normal jointer! You’d be way ahead buying a used jointer for the same money ir more.
I’ve had it now about 9 months. I just gave up thinking I was going to get any help from the company. Basically I think they are three guys and a trick duck, except the duck got wii I rn out. I think they buy from some offshore manufacturer abd lump it through channels like amazon and never look back. But a name brand.
That being said, if you are new to jointing, there will be a learning curve, where and when to apply pressure is an art form (in my opinion). The spiral cutting head is a must, it makes really nice cuts with little to no rough cuts.
The jointer table came already aligned, I double checked though. The most time was spent on getting the fence perfectly aligned but when you finally hit that sweet spot you are ready to joint.
