Five years ago, a silly, childish crush got Penny Canfield sent away to finishing school.
Now, she's returned home — but her feelings for Johnny Gillette haven't waned. If anything, they've only grown stronger. The first time Johnny threatens to put her over his knee, she's shocked by her very grown-up reaction to his high-handed behavior.
And judging by the smoldering looks being sent her way by the sexy cowboy, the feeling is very mutual.
But rumors and misinformation keep them from confessing their true feelings for each other. And unless one of them is willing to swallow their pride and take a risk, they might just miss out on the love of a lifetime.

About the author

Mary Wehr is a USA Today Best Selling Author. Her favorite romance stories always feature a sexy alpha male and a hot tempered lady who's a bit rebellious in nature and requires a firm hand.
Old Western movies with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara are just some of her favorites. Television shows like 'Gunsmoke' and 'Cheyenne' are also a part of her DVD collection.
Now she pens the very same kind of books she loves to read so much.
Mary also has a soft heart when it comes to animals. Her yard is full of squirrels, chipmunks and birds and even a groundhog that's always looking for a handout. Deer come through the yard at least several times a day and bring along the new fawns.
It's always exciting to see the new babies with their white spots and big ears.

Penny had a hard crush on Johnny Gillette since she was fourteen. She followed him around, asking questions, getting in the way. When her Daddy realized his little girl was infatuated with Johnny, he talked with his sister and decided it was best for her to go to a girl's prep school in New York.
"She remembered how she had followed him around like a lovesick lost puppy and hung on to his every word. Ugh. How infantile."
Penny has one girl that she can't get along with, Mary Jane Ferguson, and the animosity between these two is so thick you could cut it with a knife. Mary Jane has a habit of making up stories and spreading them around. It doesn't take her long to insinuate that she and Johnny are an item, and he is building her a house and ready to ask her to marry him. None of that sets well with Penny. These two don't only have verbal disputes; they make it physical.
Johnny knows how Penny feels about him, but when she is sent away, she is just a naïve young girl—coming back home, she is a beautiful woman. How will these two handle a relationship when others try to stop it before it can happen? Johnny isn't afraid to show Penny his feelings on her bratty behavior, and she won't get out of discipline with him like she has her father. They have a second chance, where now they are both adults, to discover if what they felt before was real and is it still there.
The story does have several discipline scenes as well as sex scenes.
