The story Waiting to Fall: Book Two of the Waiting Duet by Alyson Reynolds is a new adult/romance book. This is the love story of Finn Crawford and Cora Donovan. They have always been best friends. Then a dare changes everything. Will this couple go from the “friend zone” and act on the feelings that they have for each other?
This is the amazing second story in the Waiting Duet. First, there was Olivia’s story and now we get to find out more about her twin brother and her best friend. I was hooked on the story from the very beginning and found myself quickly turning pages to find out what happens next. I love the characters of Finn and Cora. Cora is an outgoing woman who works hard going to college. She is fully supportive when her best friend Olivia falls in love and encourages the relationship. However, she doesn’t believe relationships are for her. An event in her past has shown her that dating is not for her. Then her feelings for Finn Crawford begin to change. They have always had a close friendship in which they tease each other incessantly. Now Cora finds herself wanting more than friendship and while she tries to close off these feelings it seems like a losing battle. Will Cora take a chance with Finn and confess to how she really feels about him?
Finn can’t believe that he and Cora took things a little too far. He also can’t believe the intense emotions that he now has for her. It invades his every thought and distracts him from his studying for his classes. Finn has always been there for Cora and took care of her when she needed him the most. Finn is confused with the signals that Cora is sending. First, she seems to want more and then just declares them friends-with-benefits. Can Finn convince Cora of his true feeling for her? Can he control his jealousy when he sees her flirting with other guys? Finn understands that Cora is reluctant to go beyond a casual relationship with him. Can he convince her that their love is worth taking a chance? Both Cora and Finn also worry about how their relationship will affect Olivia, Finn’s twin sister if it doesn’t work out. Will they both find that their love for each other is worth taking that chance?
I absolutely loved the first book and this second one is just as awesome. The author’s writing is amazing and has created characters that you root for and want them to find their HEA. This book has me believing in true love and soul mates. I loved having the characters from the first book transitioning to the second as you catch up on how their lives are progressing. This is a wonderful book to get lost in. I found myself reading it in one afternoon. This book does include adult situations. Finn and Cora’s story is very steamy. It would be for those 18 years of age and older.
Finn and Cora have been fighting this attraction to one another out of fear of what it will do to their friendship if it doesn’t work out and how it could affect Olivia’s relationship with both Finn and Cora. After way too much tequila they have one drunken night together but it isn’t enough.
They keep their budding relationship a secret from everyone, especially Olivia but no one thought anything about the time spent together since they have always been close friends. As time progresses we find out a bit more about Cora. Her parents are horrible who only think of her as an afterthought and don’t get me started on her ex-boyfriend who did a lot more damage than anyone realized.
This is a great story about how two lifelong friends who take a chance and find love with one another. I loved the flirty snarky banter between Finn and Cora, but Cora’s roommate Hannah added something special. I wish she had been more involved with the storyline than she was. I would highly recommend this book and series.
Despite their efforts to stay away from each other, they fail miserably and this is when things get interesting. Finn and Cora have some insanely hot chemistry!! I loved their connection. Their banter. The way they teased each other, supported each other. This couple did work my last nerve with their stubbornness at times!! I wanted to reach in my Kindle and tell them cut it out already!!! They are made for each other but kept letting doubts get in their way. When you find out Cora’s backstory it all makes sense why she is the way she is but this is Finn!! As the story progresses we have some drama but not the kind I was expecting and my heart was in my throat once again with what will happen with the couple.
This is the second book that I have read by this author and I really like her writing style, the pacing was on point and the story held my interest. The author created loveable and relatable characters that you can't help but connect with.I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.
