I downloaded the first book in this series because it was free - since I had never heard of this author before, I wanted to see whether it was worth it to invest my money in purchasing the whole series.
First book was good - had some editing errors, but I could overlook them.
Second book was the same - good story and the grammatical and writing errors could be overlooked.
In the third book (which I'm still in the middle of), among many other glaring errors, the author calls the main character 'Josh' instead of 'Jace'.
I found the author on Facebook and sent a message to let her know that I like her style of writing but was disappointed by the editing - I understand that the current generation doesn't seem to care about proper writing as much as previous generations, but I've been reading well before the Internet and texting came into the scene and have a great appreciation for literature and proper grammar.
I have to say that the author's (I'm assuming it was the author due to the 'voice' and usage of person (my, I, etc) used in the reply) response disappointed me: she informed me that the series was written early in her career when she could not afford to hire a good editor. She has since hired a better editor and, while she is slowly working on re-editing her old books, her main focus is to work on her new books.
She wished me well in finding other authors in the Christian Romance genre to enjoy.
She also pointed out that I could always return the books and reminded me that the first one in the series was free.
Apparently, this author doesn't take enough pride in her work to go back and edit earlier novels so that her readers can fully enjoy the plot line/story without having to go back and re-read to try and understand what she was trying to say...
Don't waste your time/money on this series- read one of the newer series since the author is apparently pouring all of her time and effort into those.
Book one could be read after book three without any major spoilers, but you’d already know the main parts of book two if you read book three first. But at 99 cents apiece (as of 12/8/13) there isn’t much excuse not to read this enjoyable series in order.
There are several aspects that make these books so enjoyable. First off, they’re clean and sweet, yet they also deal with real problems in today’s world. Teenage pregnancy, car accidents, hackers, cancer, adoption, and the inability to have children are all issues that the characters in this series have to deal with and work through in the series.
The romance isn’t rushed and has a very real life feel. Lessons of trust, love, commitment, and laying aside personal dreams and ideas must be processed and learned.
The third thing I really like about this series is the way the author ties in prayer and the Bible. It’s not every preachy, there aren’t long sermons; it’s just naturally a part of the character’s lives.
If you enjoy contemporary Christian romance then this is a series for you.
I got to know the main characters in the last book and was really wondering if Ms. Jordan was going to finish their storyline.
I'm happy and pleased to say I was not disappointed in the outcome of this book! Well done!!
