Waiting on Wesley is a story about second chances: one where you see the past and understand where these two characters were and you see them in the present, wondering where they will go and what risks they will take. Overall this book is decent. It is very short in comparison to what I was expecting. I feel like this could have been great if there had been more character development and plot happening. This book is very straight forward and to the point. It hits all the high points expected from a contemporary story. There are a lot of different sub genres represented: second chance romance, MC, alpha male, family tragedy and betrayal. Dixie Rae blends them all together into a story that somehow works rather well.

This book is told in dual POVs which gives the story a bit more depth. We see Fallow's reaction to Wesley's return, as well as Wesley's frustration that his grand plan is not happening like he hoped. There are high points and low points for them both. This story stars with a first love that is overshadowed by tragedy and abandonment. At the time, Fallon's reactions seemed a bit over dramatic, but you can also see her POV and somewhat understand why she is that way. I was surprised with how Wesley's character was what I expected but suddenly not. He has a few layers in the story and his determination is admirable.

I feel like this book is a good idea with a decent presentation that could use some loving. It needs to be flushed out and expanded to create a more well rounded story. I read the book and understand the story and what the author intended, but I also feel like so much more could have happened. What you read has potential to go beyond but instead it stays in the safety of what it is. It is a very quick read that follows the mandatory check list of a second chance love story without the personality and flair I was hoping for.

I always love a mystery and when this book came up for review from a "Mystery Author" and the synopsis was good I took a fly leap. Lets just say I am glad that I had my parachute on because this was a pretty rough landing. First, I did not know that this was a novella- which is in no way a fault of the story- but I hate novellas. Unless they are from a series that I am reading and they tie in with the rest of the series. I like when I can get my emotions around a book and really get to know the characters. In a novella you really can't do that. The stories feel like you are wanting more and the story is rushed, and that is pretty much what happened with this story.

I really liked the personalities of Wesley and Fallon. Fallon is your typical girl who has lost it all and is not taking any crap from anyone. Wesley is a bit different. You have your stereotype of what you think that a biker guy is going to be and Wesley may not exactly fit into that mold. I love that even after all of the years that they have been apart you can feel the love that they have for one another. This is where I really think this would make a great full length book. I would say though that the sex in this book is pretty hot. Whoever this author is (and yes we know that it is some other author with a pen name) they know how to write a steamy sex scene.

If you are looking for a short biker book you can read while you are waiting for the train or the Dr, this is for you. Although, sometimes short, sweet and hot are all we need.

I am giving this a 3.5 but since I can't click a half star it gets a 4 !! My rating has nothing to do with a dislike of the book , in fact I love this storyline and the execution. It is due to the length - this was a mystery ARC which I love to sign on for , not knowing by who and about what is intriguing !! Once I started reading and realized how short it was I wondered if this was just a serial or maybe a prequel to a series coming up ?? I mean so much more can be done with this storyline in the here and now , not to mention the bits and pieces that can be filled in about Wesley and Fallon's time apart. I am a sucker for second chance romance and even more so when it stems from childhood best friends turned lovers !!

Fallon and Wesley have known each other forever and when the story starts in the prologue we get a glimpse of them in their wild and horny teen days !! I love them and I was excited to see what became of them. Very quickly this takes a turn and we are 13 years later with Fallon alone and Wesley rolling back into town after being gone all this time. His goal is to win back his girl and Fallon's goal seems to be to try and resist Wesley's charms. When they begin to hash out the issues of the past we find that Wesley's leaving during Fallon's heartache is way more intertwined than some can deal with...

Will we get more ?? If so how much more ?? I would love to continue on with this...

My 4 star review
I LOVE a good mystery ARC, I will always say yes to the. The fun of not knowing- is so exciting. Just getting the blurb, I knew I would like this one. This book is a short story- novella if you will. The story is a bit rushed, but it is ok- I just chalked it up to that it was a novella; and I got the ending that I wanted. I enjoyed this new to me author very much. This book is about making changes and starts in the past- moves forward to the present. It is also told in dual POVs which I love.
Fallon and Wesley were attached as teenagers. But it seems the day she needs him the most, is the day she can’t turn to him anymore. Fifteen years have gone by- and she has finally given up on getting him back.
Fallon is the hero, and she seems to have lost it all. But that doesn’t make her weak; in fact it makes her stronger. I really enjoyed her character and how she played into Wesley’s life.
Wesley is the hero- and he is quite different than the stereotypical male biker lead. And Wesley and Fallon DEFINITELY have the chemistry, that’s for sure. Seems to be popping off the charts!

I really enjoyed this and will read this author again any day! I really enjoyed this short story- and recommend it to my book friends!
