From the Back Cover
That's the sign in front of the Chelsea Veterinary Clinic on the lower west side of Manhattan, where I'm currently standing on what is clearly another crappy Saturday morning.
I'm at a vet clinic.
It's not even my dog - pet sitting has gone horribly wrong.
Last night is, well, fuzzy.
Then in walks Dr. Herriot. Sex in scrubs.
The dog will be okay.
This vet: Oh, Mylanta.
He. Asks. Me. Out.
I love Saturday mornings.

The story opens with Delilah, who is supposed to be taking care of her friends’ dog and ends up needing to her to the veterinarian. There is an insta-attraction between her and Mason, the veterinarian. He asks her out and their relationship skyrockets from there. They have combustible sexual chemistry, but that really seems to be the only thing they have in common. Delilah is supposed to return to her home and family company in New Orleans. Mason is a single father, who took over primary care of his daughter since her mother is away pursuing her career in music.
Overall, I was not a fan of this book. In my opinion, they were not a good match and I did not see much of the attraction besides the physical part of their relationship. Delilah is spoiled and irresponsible from the beginning of the book and continues throughout not really understanding how most people live in the real world. I could not see what Mason saw in her, especially from a guy who is working extremely hard to build a business and raise a child. I thought meeting his daughter’s mother was a window into Mason and his thinking about women and his idea of a family.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Hidden Gems Books.
The cover is cute, the plot sounds cute.
I didn't care much for the main characters; they were both annoying in their own ways and I didn't see much chemistry between them, other than sexual attraction, to make their relationship work long term.
The story leaves much to be desired and leaves so many unanswered questions; about the daughters birth mom, Delilah's aunt, Delilah's familys back story (especially her mothers). We only get snippets and its really not enough.
