"I have never cried so many times and so desperately as I did while reading this breathtaking story, every aspect of it touching everything that I am, everything that I dream of... Whether you're a fan of MC romances or not, it does not matter in this case-this is a story that first and foremost celebrates women for their resilience, for their selflessness, for their ability to love without limits, all the while underlining the meaning of true love."―Natasha is a Book Junkie
"Ashley delivers a deeply emotional second installment of the Chaos contemporary romance series... About the Author
Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, and has lived in Denver, Colorado, and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.
Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland, and Kristen grew up listening to the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Whitesnake.
Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music and love was a good way to grow up.
And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

None of Millie's friends could understand why Millie broke up with High 20 years ago and after 3 years together High and Chaos should have realized her excuse that she was too good for bikers, had a college degree and wanted someone who had aspirations to be something more in their lives he should have known that was bull...., but he walks away at her insistence and for 20 years they each go through their own type of hell without each other.
When she hears his voice 20 years later in line for her lunch she knows without a doubt it's his and it's an amazing ride as you learn what she has been through the last 20 years! You will cry and mourn the loss of so much more than just High. For she really did Walk Through Fire for the man she loves and when he finds out he will show you the kind of man Chaos has always known him to be - a Chaos man through and through a man who takes care of his woman and his family first and foremost - a man who loves with his whole heart and soul!
And when Chaos club business with Valenzuela effects Millie well let just say High is not happy and neither are his brothers from Chaos.
One of the best parts of this book is learning so much of Chaos history. Millie and High began before Tack was in charge of Chaos and you get to learn, in detail, about the change between the old President, Crank, and the new and current one - Tack. And it is just AWESOME!! And at the same time heartbreaking because you finally get to hear ALL the details about Black. And not just about his death we get to learn about him as a person and how influential he was to the Club.
One of Kristen Ashley's best books by far and I've read them all!!
High and Millie have a history that dates back over 20 years- some of it is beyond awesome and some just not so much. For the first part of this book, we are taken back and forth between present day and various points in time between when they met and when they imploded. Given the radical difference between their "now" and their "before", it was a bit jarring to me with the constant time jumps, particularly since their "now" looks a whole lot like emotional warfare! As we are trying to find out what led to the big break and what Millie's secret may be, Tyra and her Chaos ladies take it upon themselves to try to help - and it is SO not helpful!
Blessedly once we get past that initial setting the stage part, the story and storytelling felt like classic KA to me and I settled in to read the rest in one sitting. There is club drama, Millie drama, High's bratty kid's drama, Elvira's cosmos and boards, Tyra, Tabby, Shirleen and more. The interconnected history of the group is enriched a bit in Walking Through Fire as High and Shirleen's past is discovered/ detailed as well.
Once Millie and High get to the good stuff, there is plenty of it as they try to put the past behind them and move forward. They also have to deal with a situation that many face these days: integrating a new person into a family after a divorce. It is even more with a child who is completely unwilling to accept that their prior reality with Mom and Dad no longer exists and they try anything to make the new person feel unwelcome. As if that is not enough to raise High's blood pressure on any given day, a familiar club nemesis decides to rear its ugly head making Millie and all the families a target.
My return to the world of Chaos at the hands of this talented author was a bit tumultuous with plenty of love, family, and laughter to offset the anger, fear and frustration. I am giving Walk Through Fire a 4 star rating overall. Although the first 25% of this book contributed to the lower rating as I found it difficult to stick with it at times, the second half of the story more than made up for it and finished on a high note
