Editorial Reviews

Walking Cardio ShapeUp has been wildly successful on ExerciseTV since its launch in 2008. ExerciseTV Celebrity Trainer, Chris Freytag, has been a champion of providing weight loss for all levels by providing easy to do, high-energy, cardiovascular workout routines that get anyone burning calories and seeing results.
Start with Walking Cardio Shape up to get your heart rate up and boost your metabolism. This workout is easy to do and easy to follow, but be prepared to work up a sweat. When you are comfortable, take it to the next level with Walk and Sculpt. This 40 minute workout infuses a higher level of lower body cardio with upper body weight training for a full body, fat blasting system.
We recommend 3-5 pound hand weights.

This is a great high intensity, low impact walking workout. Chris Freytag has a great energy level and guides you through intervals of walking and sculpting. The walking sections are varied, including many different types of moves (kicks, skater moves, high knees, etc.) and definitely get your heart rate up. I am a fan of walking workouts and have done a lot of Leslie Sansone workouts. I found this one to be more challenging than most of Leslie's workouts. In just over 40 minutes you get a really great workout that includes both cardio and strength training. There are also two different workouts on this DVD for variety.

I've been going to the gym regularly for a year. I run 5Ks, and I do workout DVDs at home. I'm still significantly overweight, but I've lost 30+ lbs. I do 4 and 5 mile workouts with Leslie Sansone. I'd say I'm closer to intermediate than beginner. This workout kicked my butt. I had to modify many of the movements, and I felt clumsy and out of shape trying to keep up with this video. The instructor moves fast and and does quite challenging moves. She's upbeat and encouraging, but may be difficult to keep up with, even for intermediate exercise buffs.

I have scoliosis and a knee injury and find it hard to find challenging workouts that don't include a ton of squats, lunges, twists, and lateral, dynamic motion. Usually walking workouts work well because they are low impact and avoid the majority of these ranges of motion. Not this one. 10 minutes in and I am presented with repeated lunges and squats... this is NOT walking! Grrr. Waste of money. We really need better explanations on the types of movements included in these videos so we don't have to waste our money on them to find out they won't work for us.

I am not a star athlete or an exercise addict. I found this DVD to be a great challenging workout. Chris freytag includes modifications for the walking and sculpting exercises that makes the workouts excisable for just about anyone from the experienced to the beginner. A great 46 min. workout.

I'm a huge long time fan of Leslie Sansone, but after doing her workouts daily (rotating her DVDs) for over 2 years, I've felt I've hit a plateau. And, I don't really care for her new DVDs with all those dang model-figure youngsters. ;) (I prefer her eclectic mix of body types and ages). So I browsed amazon, read the reviews on this one, and WOW did it deliver! It has everything I'm looking for...boosted cardio (low impact, with a little teensy bit of optional high impact), a little weight training, some fun lower body and ab moves...really mixed up to keep it interesting. Yes, some of the moves are a little awkward, but this is my first time doing this workout (I was sweating like a pig, by the way) and I know I'll get more proficient as the days progress. Chris Freytag is adorable, encouraging, and makes me feel like I can do anything! Great step up from Walk at Home! I was actually disappointed when the workout ended because I was ready for more!

I love working out with the Chris Freytag videos. She's upbeat and is very informative on how to do the moves correctly. I liked the variety of moves in this DVD, and the fact that you're getting a total body workout in a short amount of time! I use to work out with Leslie Sansone DVD's but her constant chatty/laugh just annoyed the heck out of me. If you like walking with Leslie Sansone, you'll love the Chris Fretag videos even more because they're a bit more challenging.

I started doing video workouts back when VHS and Beta were the thing in the late 80s / early 90s. My number one complaint has always been moves so complicated I can't work up a sweat because I spend too much time trying to figure out what the heck is going on. The past several years I've become a hard core Leslie Sansone fan because I can follow her easily and still get a sweat on the 3-5 mile work outs. So, you can imagine my joy at finding another walking workout that gave me a decent sweat and changed up the routine. If, like me, dancing is not your workout, this one is good, she is easy to follow, gives you fair warning when the movement is going to change, and best of all, it didn't bore me. Enjoy!
