Shelley willingly shared her story in a very transparent way with the goal of helping others who have suffered like she did, so they, too, can know that God wants to heal them, too.
I also appreciate the fact that while she experienced abuse, she states that she isn't laying blame on anyone or accusing anyone. This book wasn't about pointing fingers or finding fault with others, but instead about her own journey toward freedom.
If you're looking for encouragement and the hope and healing that only comes from God, I encourage you to read this book.
This book is exceptional, written in a conversational way, and honest to the hilt. More than that, Shelley bases what she believes and does on God's Word, not on feeling alone. This is too often neglected these days, and so authors and their readers get off track into swamps of vague half-truths. While not perfect, Walking Healed has so much truth it is transparently encouraging, while addressing issues like my depression, anxiety, and fear. The whole focus of this book is God's sufficiency, but not in a blanket way. Shelley tackles specific problems with His specific remedies.
I am so thankful for this book, and her courage to share it, and I thank God, who brought it about. This is worth the read. I'm praying God will help me apply what I learned here.
And I'll be getting a few paper copies for friends and family.
