“All the creativity, madness and magic that Pat Cleveland brought to the runway, she has now poured into this riveting, celeb-drenched account of her astonishing life in fashion.” (Simon Doonan author of The Asylum: Tales of Madness From a Life in Fashion)
"How wonderful Pat Cleveland titled her memoirs, Walking with the Muses. She is the timeless muse; that unique and rare spirit, that continues to inspire throughout the ages. A life worthy of admiration-not only for its almost fairy-tale like adventures through New York when it was at one of its creative peaks, Paris at its wildest, the beaches of the Mediterranean and the tombs of Egypt, Pat's story is one that will make you believe that if you put it in the universe, even your most outrageous dreams can come true: you can meet anyone you want, be anyone you want, love anyone you want." (Andre Leon Talley former Editor-at-Large for Vogue magazine)
About the Author
Pat Cleveland is an American supermodel who The New York Times society chronicler Bill Cunningham calls “The supermodel” and Vogue veteran Andre Leon Talley calls “the all-time superstar model,” and “the most extraordinary black model of the century.”

WALKING WITH THE MUSES: A MEMOIR is an absolute joy that moves at a blazing pace. The book features a who’s who cast from the worlds of fashion, music, movies, and art… yet you never get the sense she is bragging. The chapters are short and she speaks with colloquial delight. You feel she is sitting right next to you regaling her tales as you read. If you want Proust, this book is not for you. If you want a fabulous time, it is.
So often biographies from the world of fashion have a dark tone, it is nice to find one that is not afraid to address some darker times in her life, but for the most part is a joyful journey with a fairytale happy ending. For those people that enjoy reading as an uplifting way to escape to far off fashionable worlds of bohemian beauty and delight, Pat Cleveland is a perfect traveling companion.
I thought it a bit disturbing how when she talked about people she would mention of the French vibrant girl, but when she mentioned black people she always said like a creative 'black' suchandsuch. If she didn't have to say white why say black. Own it.
