As she describes her younger years and her infatuation with Hollywood to the later years after having had some success and then finding it slowly waning, she reveals the real emotional pain that in many ways surpassed the physical as she learned the hard way that Hollywood success is not always lasting, nor is it kind on the way down. Through her struggling career and then through a difficult marriage and battle with pain meds emerged a much, much stronger person. Through it she finds herself... her authentic self. And in doing so found renewed hope.
This story is inspiring for all the right reasons, and doesn't paint a perfect ending, just a real and heartfelt ongoing journey that should serve as a lesson to us all regarding perseverance, the ability to keep getting back up after a fall (even when It knocks Big Bird's head off!) and keeping a sense of humor through it all. Thank you Geri, for sharing this with us through your book.
Whether you are one with this kind of challenge, or not, this book uplifts and reminds us of the courage and human spirit we all have within us. We all come into this world with different challenges. These have been Geri's, and her perserverence along wth her ability to see humor, even in the most painful circumstances is empowering! She is one of the strongest human beings out there!! "Laughter is a wonderful healing tonic that prevents us from becoming spiritually brittle and broken from the hardships we endure", she says. And so it is, Geri, and so it is!
Read this book!!
Geri Jewel's journey is bold, flawed, heart wrenching, funny as hell, brave, and inspirational. She has made a difference with her life against all odds and it teaches us so much. Geri has always made us think and laugh. This book definitely does both.
