1) lack of package protection from the manufacturer. My rack was slightly bent on some of the individual wine rack rods. I had to physically bend them straight by hand. This could probably be due to the fact they get thrown around and moved in shipping. There is no foam, cardboard or packaging material in the box. It's literally the rack and the surrounding box.
2) the paint on mine had signs of running. Easily covered by the wine so not a huge deal. Just looks like someone rattle can sprayed the thing.
3) the supplied hardware is not the best. Go to the store and get your own.
Note in picture, they are mounted directly center of each stud (16") studs. That's the spacing if you go direct to stud side by side.
Dec 2014. Updating a couple of notes on these racks. I was able to use three of the four racks that I bought. If you have fatter bottles like champagne or sparkling white, they do no fit as
nicely as the thinner bottles (all of my bottles of red are fine, the white's fit but do not "lay" as nicely as the reds)
You need to mount these into your wall studs. Someone mentioned using only the screws into the drywall. There is no way i would do that. You will have glass and wine everywhere and be a very unhappy camper.
I got the idea from Pinterest, so I can't take all the credit. I went to a home supply store to price out making something for this function and would have spent too much money on something that wouldn't have looked as nice. The custom ones from an arts and crafts website b.Etsy were even more costly than this and held less items.
Purchased this item since it seemed to be more heavy duty. Labeled as "cast iron."
Installed in garage after finding my husband's stud finder, trying to measure too many things and put pen marks on the wall (but only 2 holes!).
You may want to consider having a friend help you put this up, it was a bit awkward to hold the rack, the screw, the drill/screw driver and then to also get it level.
Note: I didn't notice when I took it out of the box, but as other people have mentioned, some of the shelves were warped/crooked. This was pretty bad on the one on the bottom. But it's not noticeable using the rack for my purpose.
-I need more yoga mats. (Oh wait, sorry...)
-They are not deep enough to hold a yoga block. I'm trying to figure out a way to extend the end or connect some bands to tie them up still. I saw some wine/towel holders that looked like they would work, but i needed space for a lot of mats.
-Not enough space in between shelves to hold a foam roller. My smooth foam roller will not stay on the top shelf, but the nubby one does fine.
-It seriously looks super cool when used for a yoga mat rack. (I had them in a reusable shopping back originally).
-It does not affect my garage door going up or down!! (I got concerned AFTER I had the darn thing up. Oops!)
-No wine was harmed in the hanging of this rack. It was safe and sound in the kitchen.
