However, the hands are incredibly flimsy. It's very easy to bend them out of shape, but it's also easy to bend them back into shape. Still, a word of caution if the hands are going to be more out in the open (since I made a clock out of a jar) not to touch them accidentally. Also, the sticky backing on the numbers is pathetic. It's easy to use real glue on them instead, though.
All in all, a pretty good kit. Nothing special, but totally workable.
PROS: Looks easy. Hand design is pretty.
CONS: Hands are barely thicker than cardstock paper. Seriously. DON'T PUSH ON ANYTHING or you'll bend the hands instantly--they're crazy flimsy. There's nothing that goes in between the hour hand and the minute hand--it's just cheap metal on cheap metal. Which means that the minute hand is constantly catching the hour hand and dragging it along with it. It's like they move as one unit--minute and second hand together. Easy solution, right? Just loosen the hands a bit? Yeah, no. The second you do that, either everything else gets loose but the hands stay stuck together, or else there's not enough of the end cap threaded at all, and the whole thing comes apart.
Don't buy this. It's flimsy, cheaply made, and doesn't work to actually tell time. Or buy it, but just use it as a still-life modern art creation.
Note: I bought a cheap clock for 4 bucks at a closeout store and took the works out to use on another clock with a bad ticker and it fit there, but luckily. That clock was made to snap-in, not a threaded shaft, again lucky for me.
Given both clock repairs, I would stick with the new works from Amazon, over buying a bargain basement clock just to raid the motor.

For some reason, it's not keeping time-the hour hand doesn't stay on the gears properly, and the minute hand keeps falling off the screw and hindering the hour hand and second hand... Read morePublished 19 days ago by Alisha
