If anyone could corner the millennium, Disney could. In presenting the theme music to its millennium celebration at Epcot Center in Florida, the megacorporation attempts a grand, musical year-2000 salute. Naturally, World Millennium Celebration weaves plenty of fiery brass, warm sting passages, stirring voices, and a mix of space romance and Earth adventure into the fabric of this fantasy work. Executive Music Producer Steve Skorija's task seems to be providing a backdrop for live performance, a scrim to unfurl behind the spectacle. And in doing so, the themes "Reflections of Earth," "We Go On," "Tapestry of Nations," "Promise," and "Celebrate the Future Hand in Hand" (complete as a gospel version as well) have an "Up with People" undercurrent that is ambiguous even as it is mildly diverting. On those merits, Millennium Celebration succeeds as a score. But for sheer entertainment value, the CD needs to give us more of the legendary mouse's magic and less of its roar. --Martin Keller

Magical Disney Memories!

With Illuminations show ending this year, I knew I had to have a piece of this music with me to listen to over and over again. I remember the song that plays and it was always a highlight part of the show for me. And then We Go On playing when the park is closing and seeing all the colorful lights and Spaceship Earth that big old golf ball when you exit the park. And lastly when I went to Disney during the Millennium Celebration I remember that chanting song from the Tapestry of Nations and I remember my sister and I humming it to each other so many times, it became a game to see who could hum it the longest before one got annoyed by another. So glad to have this CD now and listening to it brings back so many memories. I LOVE DISNEY!

My husband and I were dating in 2000 and went to Disney--twice. We have such wonderful memories of this time and the Epcot parade is probably our fondest memory. The music to that (Tapestry of Nations) was perfect for the celebration of the millenium. 10 years and two kids later, lots of Disney trips and we still wish they would have that parade again! One night recently at Epcot, we heard the music and were determined to find it. I've been playing the CD all day since I got it from amazon.com today and so happy I was able to find it! My husband will totally be surprised when I add it to his itunes. I highly recommend this CD to anyone looking for inspirational music. However, if you wne to Disney anytime during the millenium celebration, this is a must have!

A 5-star rating doesn't do this CD justice - I would rate it 10 stars if I could. The music on this CD is beyond description - it's unbelievably powerful, poignant, emotional, sentimental, uplifting, and inspirational. My favorite songs are the "Reflections of Earth" and "Promise." I listen to this CD every day because it is so beautiful and so empowering... Only Disney could come up with such true musical and creative ingenuity. The music brings tears to my eyes everytime I listen to it, even after having listened to the music countless, countless times. I have visited the Disney parks several times over the past few years, and I never miss the Epcot fireworks show with this music because it is so stunning and just beyond comprehension. This CD is an absolute must for your collection. I might need to get a second copy of the CD because I will probably wear out my existing copy soon!

This is a wonderful musical masterpiece. The music on here differs from other Disney park music exactly how Epcot differs from the other Disney Parks. More mature, inspiring, and very real. This music is not a celebration of what might someday will be, but is a celebration of what is today and what we have here on our "Spaceship Earth" on this day in time. The music is intense and fun to listen to and (if you saw this production) magnificently brings you back to that moment of your time in The World. I highly recommend this for music-listening pleasure or for that leap back to Walt Disney World.
