1) It does not present ALL of Kelly's work for Fairy Tale Parade, although there is room for dispute on attribution of many of the FTP stories. Suffice to call this a generous and thoughtfully chosen selection of FTP material.
2) Because the material was photographed from vintage issues (rather than expensive or impossible employment of original art), the drawings are just a tad muddy and indistinct. Comparing it with a really sharp, vintage issue of FTP #1, I can discern a difference....but does it matter? Maybe this is like an audiophile comparing vinyl with MP3 recordings; the difference will never be noticed unless the two are directly compared.
3) The cover is beautiful, but the binding is relatively cheap. The corners of the cover were blunted in transit, and I'll bet the spine will crack soon and badly. Treat the book carefully and well, and that may not be a problem. But if you give it to children (horrors!) it probably won't hold up well. (What comic collector would ever entrust comic books to mere children) ;)
Now, if you love Kelly's work, go buy this book. Just be aware that in order to put this book in your hands at this price, some corners had to be cut. This might have been a high-end production selling at $250, but instead it's a book you can afford and even (horrors!) share with your kids.
Now here is Walt with Fairie tales I have loved, and cracks the looking glass with inimitable verve. This treasure trove warms my soul like the master story weaver Walt was born to be.To have these in print is to comb our collective psyche and etch our eyes like a painter on canvas. To see "comics" in book form affirms what I have knows since I was a Wee.Reading in all forms is the frosting of life. With such books I can smile with a inner glows. Two thumbs and big toes up ,for this jewel of humor and revealing wit.
The stories have been scanned from vintage comic books and restored carefully.
If you are fan of Walt Kelly this really is a must have!
