About the authors

Didier Ghez has conducted Disney research since he was a teenager in the mid '80s. His articles about the parks, animation, and vintage international Disneyana, as well as his many interviews with Disney artists, have appeared in such magazines as Disney Twenty-Three, Persistence of Vision, Tomart's Disneyana Update, Animation Journal, Animation Magazine, StoryboarD, and Fantasyline. He is the author of the books They Drew As They Pleased - The Hidden Art of Disney's Golden Age, Disney's Grand Tour and Disneyland Paris - From Sketch to Reality, and editor of Life in the Mouse House: Memoir of a Disney Story Artist and Inside the Whimsy Works: My Life with Walt Disney Productions. He runs The Disney History blog (disneybooks.blogspot.com), The Disney Books Network website (www.didierghez.com), and serves as managing editor of the Walt's People book series.

Like any English major I've tried to do something with my degree. This has included substitute teaching high school and being attached to several small magazines and local papers. However, I've found I'm most interested in popular culture, and especially media studies. Also, what used to be called "religion in literature", but more broadly applied to music, animation, movies, TV, books and other media. Most of my Amazon reviews are on those sort of topics.
Part of the fun of being an english major is turning people on to books you like that maybe they will like also. I feel that sense even stronger in the areas of animation and rock music, to which I naturally gravitate, and enjoy writing about. When I first heard London-born artist, Steve Scott, and then read his book, it was a 1-2 punch that turned my world upside down, which thankfully will never be the same. Amazon lists me as the author of this book, but I'm really the editor. Realizing that his book and Steve's music may have different audiences, I was also very excited to have a small role in helping bring out his retrospective CD/ MP3 album, "Emotional Tourist" in 2012. There exist numerous listeners worldwide who, like myself, will upon first hearing exclaim, "Where has this music been all my life?"
