Quick, steamy, fun read! Nicole Elliot may not be telling the most original story, but she adds her own interesting twists to this tale. Owen and Sydney are well written characters and the book has just the right amount of sexiness. Great job!
Sydney was going through some hard times her brother Declan was very sick and she had been paying his Drs. bills working as a teacher.
It was now summer so she took a job at the local market to help pay the bills.
It was getting really hard to pay everything and Sydney was at her wits end. Sydney's friend Julie had gotten a flyer to this club and she figured she would go. When she gets to the club she was having a drink when a very handsome man came up and introduced himself as Owen.
Sydney found out that she was going to be part of an auction where she was hoping she would make enough money to pay off her brother's medical bills. She new it was a rich guy game to be able to spend the night and make her money.
Little did she know that Owen had to have her so money was no object. He final bid on Sydney was 250,000.00 and she would receive 20% that would at least pay the medical bills.
Owen whisked her off to a tropical island that his company owned. They decided to take the boat at the island out for a spin. While on the boat Sydney decided to stay downstairs. She hears Owen talking and it sounded like he was in trouble.
Sydney freaks and gets a call that her brother was in the hospital again this time with an infection. Owen told her that he would take care of her brother's medical which he has even though she hadn't seenOwen for awhile. She tracks him down through his attorney who told her he would give him the message.
Owen comes back to the states and he was desperate to see Sydney they get back together and of course lots of sex insures. He tells
Sydney that he loves her and doesn't want to leave her.
Declan health had started to improve. I moved in with Owen and we were about out new life together. Will Owen get caught for all his bad business dealings will Declan get sick again.
You'll just have to read the book
But the storyline was so intriguing. It had some potential...
I liked Sydney from the start. Her deep love and loyalty for Declan, her brother. And her willingness to do anything to keep him alive… to help him heal… to live without the huge burden of medical debt. So I got it. The reason she did what she did.
And there are things to like about Owen. Lots of things. Not the least of which: he really cares for Sydney. She might be his forever…
But, the local DA and the IRS are after him. Is he guilty…. Or not? Is he still walking on the shady side? Is he reformable? For Sydney’s sake, I hope for the best.
At the end of the book, I still wasn’t completely sure. But I still rooted for Sydney and Owen… And for Declan.
That said, I felt that the balance in this book was a little off. Erotic scenes are fine, they can enhance, or even drive a story forward. But here it seemed like the story-line was put on pause for another erotic scene, and another… and another…
Whew! Let me catch my breath. Now where were we?
Oh, yeah. 31/2 stars... Good, but it could have been better.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
