From a knock on the door to a few nights on the road, they are dating. The development could have been drawn out. This could be because they make an appearance in first novel. I did not read this so don't know. But it seems like a chunk of their story is missing. Series are nice, but their components should stand alone so when someone stumble upon them they are encouraged to read rather than left being confused. Their relationship is not only the focus of the story.
The mystery is interwoven to move the story forward. The mystery was not compelling. It needed to be more intense. The characters are obsessed by it and the reader is not given their immediate reactions which is needed.
The beginning of this book was a little comical at the hatred that these two people had for each other. As the book reads on, you understand where her hesitation comes from. As Lorcan starts to unlayer Carrie he finds out that he feels so protective of her and he is so confused by these feelings.
Carrie finally starts to realize that maybe there is more to Lorcan that what most people think. She is a little confused at how she can be so comfortable with an arch enemy.
Yes, this book has some misspelled words and some added words in the sentences that should not belong there, but the overall read was amazing. It kept me on my toes and made my feelers work in overdrive.
Also, while I enjoy a good love story and well-done sex scenes, I really appreciated that the author let you know there was sex, but you were not right there.... Yet you were happy for the people!
Might be checking into the other books in the series now.
