Second chance marriage is one of my favorite tropes. I will always eat that up and this one was tasty. It went fast, but it's so well written that you still feel like everything worked out and they're going to be happily married for 70 more years. Kofi took responsibility for his part in their marriage decline and was completely committed to fixing the distance that had come between them. This was a really good book.

Kali basically had enough—done blurted it out in front of the other couples and everything! Whew! My stomach dropped when nothing but silence spread around that room! It didn’t cross my mind when reading the blurb that THAT was the way Kali was gonna make her announcement. And while Kofi may have been blindsided at the outburst, when he really thought about it, he knew exactly where he messed up and for how long. See, deep down, most men know where & when they screw up, but as long as things “seem” good on the homefront, and they don’t get called out on their bs, “it’s all good.” Then when things get confrontational, instead of actually owning up to their mistakes, some get upset, which in turn does nothing but aggravate or escalate the issue.

Kofi's dad, Kofi Sr. aka Pops had some good advice for him that he clearly did not take heed to in the course of his marriage. Why do some men think that as long as they’re providing a house to live in and shelling out money for bills that’s all is needed?! Love, attention, respect, emotional support, all that gets tossed out of the window. Heck, if that’s the case why get married when you can just get a roommate?! Kali was tired of being neglected and only seen as a baby maker slash babysitter slash cook slash taxi driver slash maid. (Used the words instead of symbol to make a point.🤭)

Kofi had the right idea with the getaway…but they needed to talk, I mean really get down deep and root out all the issues that caused the problems in the first place. Kali was contemplating divorce. That’s not something that could have been fixed in a short time. I think Kali gave in a lil too easily and quickly given the fact that she was super hostile when Kofi showed up. After that, she was all about the “d.” In the past few years, they both had retreated into themselves and that can’t be fixed with sex. Don’t get me wrong, their sexual life at the cabin was hotAF, but I wish I’d gotten to read more about the deep talks or discussions.

This story was definitely headed in the right direction because we definitely need more material like this to read. Even though my stomach was in turmoil for a minute, I enjoy stories where couples don't always have it all together and they put in work to figure things out--together.

This quick read was pretty good! I enjoyed the story of Kali & Kofi at times but Kofi frustrated me. Kali was just a woman who wanted and needed attention and love. She was a woman fed up with asking Kofi to be more present and show up in their marriage instead of just existing. He wasn’t seeing her. Tired of being the doting housewife, Kali let it slipped in front of their group of friends of her unhappiness with Kofi. That part had me clutching my imaginary pearls. He was thrown off by her revelation and got upset with her. I don’t understand why, but most men will wait until you get sick and tired of their BS and have one foot out the door to fix themselves and their issues in hopes to not lose you. I was hoping Kali took more time to herself. And yet she didn’t. He gave her two days and that was it 😂. I was lowkey annoyed with Kofi myself, but he wasn’t trying to lose Kali and the life they built. So repairing his marriage was of high importance. Finally🙄.

Oh gosh, the feels! I definitely had my glass of wine handy for this one because I just knew I’d be in my feelings. This was a short novella, like really short. But, it was so freaking good. Kofi and Kali had gone through what I would describe as a, “rough patch” in their marriage. It seems that Kofi was all work and no play..and Kali wanted out. My heart was breaking because it seemed that Kali suffered long enough and reached her breaking point. While I didn’t agree with the way that Kali handled the issue, I think she was desperately aiming to get Kofi’s attention. This was a true declaration that communication and a tad bit of attention goes a long way in relationships. And in the end, love always wins! I enjoyed this one! ❤️

Kofi Sr. kept it real with his son by telling him that all women really want is love, attention, and respect. I like that not only did Kofi give Kali some time away to herself, he went after his woman and gave her all the love, respect, attention, and loving that she desperately wanted and needed. Kali needed to find herself and Kofi gave her a whole building to do whatever she wanted to do. I love that their alone time reconnected them and produced another love child.

Although this was a short read, I absolutely loved this couples story. Kofi got a little to comfortable with the way life was going for him and his family and never thought about his wife (Kali’s) feelings. I don’t blame Kali for putting a little fire under her husband to get his attention. Kofi’s parents were helpful along with his business partner Jamal in allowing Kali and Kofi to work through the bump in their marriage. There really were some real life gems to take away from this book. To all the real life married Kali and Kofi’s out there in the world, I wish them so much happiness to work through whatever bump they hit in their marriage and get back to what brought them together as husband and wife!

Anytime Ms. Pynn writes a book or novella it is never a disappointment. Kofi and Kali are no different it is a great read. I loved how Kofi recognized his wife needed what his father told him to always give "love and attention." He made sure to pamper her back into his arms. Kali's tiredness was loud at the beginning of the book but by the end of it, her love for her husband was blaring.

I do not want to give too much of the story but this is another great gem that I recommend. It's a good way to nightcap your night with this loving novella. It just gives those feel-good vibes.

She asks for a divorce which is the big wake up call Kofi needs. Kofi and Kali have been together for 20 years so you know he’s not letting go without a fight. I really enjoyed this story, a married couple going through a rough patch that doesn’t involve infidelity. I love the support they had from family and friends. These two had the right idea for rekindling; with asking each other what are their wants and needs because those things change. This is a sweet and sexy story, definitely something I see myself rereading. P.S. that epilogue 🥰
