Them came Iraq I. All of a sudden the Air Force was charged with shooting up tanks, SCUD missiles, and the like. The Air Force had to scramble to get them back into inventory. And during Iraq I they did exactly as they were designed to do. And they've proven to be so useful that they'll be around for a good while yet. So useful that the Precision Engagement (PE) Upgrade Program contract was awarded to Lockheed to dramatically upgrade the electronics of the bird.
This book is a beautiful picture book that seems to show just about every A-10 that's still in service anywhere in the world. It's a fitting tribute to a warbird that's now 25 to 35 years old but which continues to soldier on.
This book offers spare narrative on the squadrons or the planes. Most of the pic's are standard profile shots of the respective aircraft, for identification. For the general reader, this can become redundant. This is not intended to offer the reader much information on the A-10, its history, or combat pictures.
Most of you all probably already knew this. I've not served in the Air Force and was not acquainted with this style of book.
