Don Logan is well-known as a premier aviation historian/photographer. This particular book, in my opinion, is his best work yet. Many of the photos in the book are "action" shots, including many photos taken on the range as the A-10 goes to work.

Most highly recommended!

This is a beautiful book and very thorough in it's scope of accounting for almost every A-10 ever manufactured by Fairchild Republic

For most of it's life the United States Air Force has been ruled by the Bomber Boys who got their heritage from Billy Mitchell and who were convinced that true salvation lived in the ability to bomb the other buys senseless. You combine this with an airplane as ugly, as slow, as inelegant as the Warthog and it should be no surprise that by the early 1990's the Air Force had sent all the A-10s down to the National Guard.

Them came Iraq I. All of a sudden the Air Force was charged with shooting up tanks, SCUD missiles, and the like. The Air Force had to scramble to get them back into inventory. And during Iraq I they did exactly as they were designed to do. And they've proven to be so useful that they'll be around for a good while yet. So useful that the Precision Engagement (PE) Upgrade Program contract was awarded to Lockheed to dramatically upgrade the electronics of the bird.

This book is a beautiful picture book that seems to show just about every A-10 that's still in service anywhere in the world. It's a fitting tribute to a warbird that's now 25 to 35 years old but which continues to soldier on.

I didn't read the description well. This is an excellent catalog of the various squadrons in place at the time the book was published, with pictures of the planes from each. I can see the appeal, especially if you are a member or an alum, or acquainted with one of these elite fliers.

This book offers spare narrative on the squadrons or the planes. Most of the pic's are standard profile shots of the respective aircraft, for identification. For the general reader, this can become redundant. This is not intended to offer the reader much information on the A-10, its history, or combat pictures.

Most of you all probably already knew this. I've not served in the Air Force and was not acquainted with this style of book.
