solid album

I guess Raekwon set a trend that many rappers r gonna follow. I believe every CNN fan that enjoyed their first album raised an eyebrow when it was announced that a sequel was in the making. I, for sure, was one of them.

Of course time has changed so I wasn't expecting the same vibe as their first album and, to be honest, I was skeptical about it.

Well thankfully I was wrong. War Report 2 is solid from start to finish, I might consider one of, if not, the best produced album of '10. Every producer contributed nicely giving sometimes a dark atmosphere and I gotta tell u: Scram Jones is building an impressive resume, he gave 2 knock-out beats to CNN ride on and the result is awesome!!

Not to mention the collabos: The Lox, Raekwon, Nas (even if it's an old verse) geez even Faith Evans came correct.

Too bad there's no Premo on it - I was hoping a 3rd collabo between them - and Khadafi is truly missed...

CNN, Rae and Busta really did a great job as executive producers. Sometimes I do wanna listen some tales from the hood, some rhymes 'bout the life & struggles of those who live in the PJ's that no one cares about. CNN brings some reality in their songs and I really apreciate that.

So TWR2 isn't better than the first one but it's quite impressive in it's own way. I can see myself bumping this for a long time. Congratulations CNN. I salute you guys!!!

Another great album from CNN

It's been only 16 months since their last duo album, and CNN returns with another 4.5 star album for their 4th time around. I'd give "The War Report" (1997) & "The Reunion" (2000) both 5 stars and thier last effort "Channel 10" (2009) I'd say is also 4.5 star worthy. They both also have some solo's to their credit (Noreaga I have 6 of his solos and Capone I have 3), while both have made some good 4.5 or 5 star solo's, they also made a few 4 or low 4 star one (which are still decent), they are just at their best when they perform as a duo, and that shows one again here. This one has 15 songs, 2 are classic, 2 are near-classics, 8 are good and 3 are ok. Guests are on 8 of the songs, rapping on 5 and doing the hook on the other 3. Production is great as well. Scram Jones does 2 songs, Alchemist, Hazardis Sounds, Buckwild, Tha Bizness, SPK, Kyze, T. Heathcliff, Neo da Matrix, BT, Green Lantern, Araab, M3 and Dreddy K Amarae all do 1 song. A must have album from a great group.

CNN On Channel 10 Live From Iraq 13 Years Still Reporting (Rating: 8 out of 10- -4.0 stars)

What can you say about Capone-N-Noreaga since 1997, aside from the fact they dropped the classic War Report? Sure Nore has been relevent since then (on a thin line though), and Capone has put out a few albums since his incarceration, and together they have released some since that point. Here in 2010, we have a sequel to the classic, but how can it live up to it's name without sounding outdated?

Well first of all, I have to give it to these two. They stepped up their rhymes up completely, especially Nore (we all thought he fell off). Here he and Capone take it back to the grimy lyrics like it was back in '97, only updated. Really starting from the beginning of the album "Pain". Production on the album is definitely on point too, not to mention. "Bodega Stories" featuring the Lox is definitely a standout. The album's concept follows closely to the first one, as each person takes you on a lyrical journey through the streets of NY. Further through the album is the catchy "My Attribute" as both CNN shine. "Hood Pride" featuring Faith Evans is another standout with great production. "Live On, Live Long 2" is a deep song dedicated to Tragedy Khdafi who is currently incarcerated (and he is greatly missed on this album). Further on is "Brother From Another" is a deep song between CNN as they look at eachother as like brothers from the day they were locked up together in the early 90's. The album's last song "The Obituary" is the one of the best as well as both dedicate to everybody, past and present, who are no longer with us.

CNN really stepped their game up on this one here. Lyrically are both on point, and this is the best I've heard from Noreaga since '98. Sure the album's concept lack originality as it follows their debut (at least Capone is not locked up this time), but the bottom line is that we have a great album from these two. I don't know if this is touching the classic first album, but it is a good contender. Definitely one of the best of 2010. Go pick this up. Peace.
