Required reading at the Army's war college and the military academies, von Clausewitz's keen insights on strategy and tactics, both overt and covert, are still as valid today as they were when he wrote them. This is one of the first attempts to critically examine the military and political aims of warfare and determine where they are compatible and where they are at odds with one another. von Clausewitz was the first to truly appreciate and express the fact that warfare is an extension of diplomacy, not the failure of it.
If you are interested in military philosophy, and in this day and age, I think we all should be, this is the master work. Take the time to read through it and you'll see many of today's events in a new light.
