My mom started dehydrating years ago and it should be a must purchase for any family that can get it.

With the ridiculously high cost and markup for dried fruits and beef jerky, this can save you a lot of money. You can dehydrate, vegetables, herbs and any other item that is appropriate to dehydrate in a dehydrator.

I sometimes look at what people write and to be straight this is a dehydrator; it won't bake bread, it won't cook meals, etc....

It has 5 easily placed trays. There are 3 major settings; The actual temperatures were Low = 100, Med = 135, Hi = 160 measured. There is also a fan only setting without heat and it is very easy to use. It also comes with a tray to make fruit roll ups. There are millions of recipes online and you can make changes to suit your taste.

This unit is also quiet, attractive on any counter and its easy to clean up. The trays are durable plastic. They are not dishwasher safe but easily cleaned with soap and water.

There is no timer. A booklet of recipes comes with the unit but there are literally millions of recipes online.

This is a good, solid dehydrator for a nice price. Start making things and store them; it will save you a lot of time and the taste is fresher and healthier.

I like it. it works well enough for my home needs. No machine you run is going to be silent and this one makes more noise than a laptop and way less than a hairdryer so I would put it in the microwave range, so I run it on the deck (I live in California). I did find that I had to blow out the fan a few times because it got noisy if there was any dust around the fan. I am not going to use it often enough to really plunk down a lot of money for a quieter machine but I feel like making fruit roll ups and drying strawberries, peaches, plums and apricots this summer was totally doable and worth buying this dehydrator. I also choose not to run it inside because your house will smell like fruit. Again, not a deal killer but it was easy for me to run outside. They have a guide of times that go with the machine that's helpful and after a few times, you can eye the fruit as it dries and take it off at your liking. I'm not sure if they advise against it or not but I put the racks in the dishwasher and they come out great. If there is some sticky, the racks are small enough to soak in the kitchen sink. Overall, I'd buy again.

I'M ABSOLUTELY LOVING my new dehydrator! I've been making my own fruit leather, Kale chips, my own organic Mango, Apple and Banana slices and dehydrating all my organic berries (later powdering them for a super antioxidant boost in my daily smoothies) This was a gift but if I had purchased it myself, it would have easily paid for itself the first month, in savings from the rotting organic fruit & veggies that would have been normally been tossed! I will never WASTE expensive organic produce again! I was worried this would be yet another kitchen gadget like my bread maker that would gather dust and sit unused! One night I tried a batch of 4 bags of Goji berries on med for 8 hours, by the morning I had six trays of crunchy berries I could mill into a super healthy jar of Goji berry powder for baking and smoothies! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Looks great on the counter and is not loud at all! I have a Waring juicer that is still going strong after 5+ years of heavy use! Waring makes great, reliable and durable appliances, this one included! They also have a great warranty so you have nothing to worry about

My second Waring DHR30 Professional Dehydrator

I purchased my first Waring DHR30 Dehydrator and absolutely love the results after making apples, bananas, oranges, pineapple, tomatoes and jerky. EVERYTHING turns out PERFECT. I've experimented using all of the settings. Using the high setting, halved grape and cherry tomatoes are ready in 2-3 hours, 1/2" slices of apple will be ready in four hours, 1/2" orange slices take 7-8 hours as do banana slices. I use the lower settings if I am re-crisping or leaving the dehydrator on over night. I like the shape of the trays, they stack easily and are very easy to clean without scrubbing. My only regret is that one of the trays slipped out of my hands while washing and the rim broke off making it unusable. The dehydrator is nice looking, fits on my kitchen counter when in use and is easy to store when not in use. I bought my second Waring DHR30 because I was worried after reading several reviews that the motor stopped working. Both of mine have been used non-stop for a month and I have had no problems. I have already purchased three more as gifts.

This dehydrator gets the job done. I have made so many dried apples, pears, fruit leather, etc. I have been enjoying learning to make healthy snacks for my family that don't include a ton of sugar and extra ingredients! (The only annoying part about the fruit leather is the round shape. If you want to make more than just one tray using the plastic insert, you have to cut parchment paper into the shape of the tray).

It has been a really good machine up until 6 months of use. Then, right in the middle of my Christmas treat making, the motor stopped working. Well, I gave this 5 stars because WOW, Waring has excellent customer service. The motor has a 5 year warranty, so I emailed the company, and they promptly sent me a replacement machine! They are so good, they didn't even require my receipt (I had mentioned that I purchased it on Amazon), and it really was the honor system. I just have to brag and rave about great customer service because it's not that often anymore where you are provided with great service! So, I would recommend this machine because it has a legit warranty!

I've now used the dehydrator to dry cherries, apples, nectarines, pineapple, bananas and peaches. I found the drying time was reasonable and the temperature settings are awesome. I put fruit with the highest moisture content on high for a couple hours first, then reduce to medium for the remaining time and get great results. Remember to rotate your trays about every 2 hours for the best results. Apples tend to dry the easiest, with medium being sufficient for 3 hours or so and low to finish off. The quality for the price is good and I'd recommend this dehydrator to anyone whom wants some temperature control without a bigger price tag. Happy dehydrating and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
