In the epic finale of the Legends of Windemere series, the champions are readying themselves for the Baron and his army. Luke, on the other hand, is recovering from his torturous captivity where the Baron brutalized him in every way possible. The champions are worried because they know they need Luke at full strength if they are to be victorious. His physical wounds are healed but what about his spirit? It’s like he’s pushing everyone away including those who love him the most. Will he have the strength to face the Baron once again or has he already been turned to the Baron’s side? The champions will have to risk it. They embark on their final adventure where lives will be taken, prophesies unleashed and the fate of all Windemere lies in the balance.
Before I started reading, I was conflicted. I looked forward to reading where Charles Yallowitz would take the characters and the explosive confrontation with the Baron. Yet, at the same time, I knew this was the end. The characters that I had grown attached to since book 1 weren’t going to be a part of my world anymore. *sniff, sniff*
The action scenes, especially the final battle, took my breath away. Extensive detail made it feel like a movie while reading. Intriguing twists and turns caused my pulse to spike while I flipped through the pages as fast as I could to the conclusion.
The ending I didn’t care for and while I won’t tell you what happened, I felt dissatisfied. I know it’s not a happily ever after nor should it be. After all that happened, it seemed cruel. You’ll have to read it to discover what I’m talking about.
That being said, the Legends of Windemere series is one of the all-time best I’ve ever had the pleasure to read. Every character from Fizzle to Luke to Nyx to Trinity to even Baron touched me deeply and I will never forget them.
If you love Lord of the Rings, please give Legends of Windemere a try. You’ll fall in love with the characters, enjoy all the adventures and your heart will be moved.
Favorite Character/Quote: While I loved watching each champion try to take down the Baron and fulfill their own destiny, Luke was my favorite. When everything and everyone is stripped from him, he must choose to fight or give in to the evil that resides deep within.
