Really Ariel, you “know what they’re capable of”? I’m not sure you actually do since you are one of those naive mortals that just followed the vampire to a secluded place. Girl this won’t end well.
“He wasn’t the kind of guy who would take advantage of a girl, especially when they were drunk and alone.” Come on girl he’s a vampire and a dude. Let’s be real he’s totally going to take advantage.
No, no, no. You definitely want to cause a scene and attract the attention of the cars nearby. Why aren’t you fighting!? I get it that he’s stronger, but you aren’t putting up anything even resembling a fight.
Finally. Geez did you really have to wait until his fangs were in you before you started fighting.
Goodness Ariel. You are in such a state of delusion. What is wrong with you? He’s a vampire stop trying to justify his actions and make him a good guy. Vampires are evil.
Well that was dark and creepy. Yes nothing bad will come from that dark ritual. Seriously dude.
Um woah. Why is her name carved into her arm? Second how in the world did she not feel that happening!? Your own name was carved into your arm by a knife and you don’t notice until the blood is stuck to your sleeve?
Well that was creepy and weird. Ryan is finally accepting Jordan’s death and working to move on realizing that he was wrong in immediately reacting by cursing Ariel. He also found out Jordan was meddling in shit way deeper than just inopportune feeding choices.
Um ok then. We’ve moved from cursing her so that a demon will kill her to kissing her. Sure whatever. Also who cursed Ryan. It wasn’t Ariel like he assumes, but I don’t know who else would have done it.
Wait what? Who’s a sacrifice? This isn’t good at all.
Wait they’re friends now? I thought they barely knew each other. Yes they just went through a lot together and Ryan loathed her for awhile, but I never thought they were friends.
At least the demon guy was sort of helpful and he decided not to kill you. So that’s good right? I think.
So, this was pretty good for a novella. I do think the ending was a bit anticlimactic compared to how it started, but I still enjoyed it. I would have liked it to be a bit longer. It would give you a chance to understand the world a bit more. Like is magic a common thing or is it rare. Are people born with magic or do they learn? What’s up with demons? I didn’t quite understand Besarion, he’s kinda like a demon version of Lucifer. Like he’s supposed to serve humans and he thinks them beneath him and doesn’t want to follow orders, but since he can’t really “fall” from hell he just sort of disobeys his orders. He also works as part time Cupid too since he’s the reason that Ariel and Ryan are now together. Then there were some spots, mostly when we changed perspective, that the flow was a bit choppy, but overall I enjoyed reading this one.
I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story.
Although he is pulled off by his brother Ryan, Ariel loses control and uses her powers against Jordan, vaporising him. His brother is angry, not only because Ariel killed him but because she’s a witch too.
He’s determined to get Ariel back and summons a demon to take care of her, but not everything is as easy as it seems.
Warmth is a short novella of just 99 pages (90 in the paperback version). It is a paranormal romance book that deals with the fall out between a vampire and a fire witch. Although Ariel has no proper control over her powers she is strong in other ways and has a feisty character.
Ryan is a sexy vampire but even vampires need more than good looks. He is upset and angry with Ariel and wants revenge and does so by using his powers to get someone else to do his dirty work, demon Besarion, who is actually quite amusing. But has he made a mistake?
The book was a quick read, I read it in under an hour and in one sitting. The writing flowed, the pace was good and I did enjoy the plot. My issue with the book though is more to do with the size. You see I feel it needed some world building, some explanation of why and how these people became to be vampires and witches living amongst mortals.
There was also a romance element to the book but because it came around quickly it didn’t feel authentic. There wasn’t enough time to get involved with the character and fully like them. I feel even if there had been an extra 10/15 pages that dealt with the backstory this would have made the book more interesting and intriguing.
