I was going to buy a massage cane but one reviewer said to buy one of these instead.
I'm glad I did.
My middle back is knotted up royally.
I got two balls, one for home and one for work.
I just place the ball right on that muscle, stand against the wall and rub the pain right out.
Great for massage.
Is the ball good for Lacrosse?
What's Lacrosse?
Kidding....I'm too old and crippled up for Lacrosse.
Cheap.
Effective.
Recommended.

Review update 03/13/2014.
I found a new use for my ball.
I have sciatica in my left leg really bad.
So i just place the ball under my hamstring and sit at my desk for a few hours.
Instant relief when NOTHING else works on it.
Yes it hurts.
Muscle knots always hurt lol.

I am plagued by chronic myofascial trigger points on my back, i.e., muscle knots. It's extremely difficult to massage them away even with really innovative tools like the Theracane, Body Back Buddy, or Backnobber. Instead, this low cost item has become my go-to massage tool. I just drop one of these lacrosse balls in a long thin sock (think stockings), and roll my muscle knots against a wall with this in between. Works wonders. I can apply extremely deep pressure without tiring myself out. This ball is the perfect weight, toughness, and density for this massage technique. The build of the ball is very solid. The one I received had some minor flaws on the surface that were like small rips, but it did not affect the performance.

The lacrosse ball is good as both equipment for the game lacrosse and an excellent toy for the dog. My dogs accidentally got ahold of them for hours while I was away from home, I came back and they were completely intact and the dogs had a blast. Forget about tennis balls, use lacrosse balls. They go three times as far and the dogs have four times as much fun.

I bought these for my son, an avid LAX player, who tells me they are good but lose their "grip" a little faster than he'd like. They were all Brine brand balls and for the price I couldn't find a better deal.

This is the second ball I've purchased from Amazon. First was from a different listing that didn't mention Brine. Got a blue ball that smelled terrible. Ordered a white version of this listing from seller Balego USA. Smells less but still smells. Brine not mentioned on ball. Says Champion Sports.

Update: the odor is largely gone and I consider this a fine ball. It's slightly firmer and less smelly than the Brine balls I got. I still find this listing a little misleading because sometimes it lists as "Lacrosse Ball (White)" and sometimes as "Brine Lacrosse Ball".

It's funny how everyone seems to be using these for therapy. Works great for massaging out trigger points/muscle knots. I have tried all of the other "tools"...the Backnobber, Thera-cane, tennis balls, etc. This is the best and cheapest tool I have found. Much better density than a tennis ball. I'd say they are probably indestructible. I have two at home and one at work. For your back and shoulders just put the ball between the wall and you and kind of roll it very firmly.

Used as a micro fascia release for areas that a foam roller has trouble hitting. You can actually get two of these and duct tape them together to make a 'peanut' shape which can really help release the upper and lower back.

If you have ever had dogs you realize that they chew and chew well these balls will meet that problem. The density and size are ideal for German Shepsheards. Get several so you can play fetch and return and you will never have a bored full of energy pup or dog. Thanks for making a product that stands up to over a thousand pounds of biting power. I will keep coming back.
