The story draws you in quickly and things get very hot. Lindsay's descriptive powers are an asset to this tale.
It is a tale of romance and passion amidst times of strife in a realm outside the human realm.
You need not be familiar with the creatures in this realm to catch on quickly and appreciate their attraction and differences. The way it is written, you care for the characters and their well being as they face unknown dangers.
The thing I disliked about the story is it was too short and I wished I could read more right now.
This short read ended with questions unanswered, and promises of new beginnings, so I will be looking forward to reading more.
This book runs parallel to Lindsay's first book "Breaking the Nexus" and features Sha's brother Achaius and a Sorceri and Enforcer named Saia. The same havoc that is threatening to destroy Earth is threatening Mythria and everyone is trying to save their world...except for the person trying to tear it down an murder Saia at the same time. Warning - there is a cliffhanger at the end of this novel, but instead of making me angry, it just made me want more!!!
This book had humor, some very hot scenes as well as moments of angst and worry. Achaius is a shifter and the descriptions of his panther are amazing. Saia has power over air and can even fly. The combination was hot, hot and hot.
My favorite parts are when Saia and Achaius share the reason for their phobias and Achaius admits that Sha tricked him by putting a snake in his bed. Hysterical. And it gives an insight into Achaius' motivations and character. I also loved the cave Achaius brings Saia into to tell her his theories. The description was fantastic. And the scorchingly hot scene that happened after....well, whew!!!
I can't wait for the next book and everything else Lindsay will write. Kudos, applause and congratulations.
In Warrior Unleashed we are introduced to Saia and Achaius. Achaius is Sha's brother. We get to see what was happening to those who were in Mythiria while Sha was in the human realm.
Saia is a strong willed defender of Mythiria and the Nexus that divided the two realms. She is feeling defeated and grief stricken at the beginning due to the loss of her partner in the field. Achaius is there to protect her and help her through the greif.
He is sure that there is someone/something that is taking out those who keep the boundary of the Nexus but he can't prove it. All he wants to do is keep Saia safe while he figures out what is happening. Through this process the two evolve to help each other through all the trials attacking Mythiria.
A very good short read. I highly recommend that those who haven't read Breaking the Nexus do so before reading this novella. This story is a great filler to parts of Breaking the Nexus that we only seen glimpses of. This story is for you if you enjoy fantasy/paranormal/mythical mixed with a lot of heat!
Unfortunately, Sentinels are dieing, and he suspects something is up. There is a lot of excitement in here and a lot of love. Predator shifters seem to be a territorial protective bunch and that doesn't always mesh well when they fall for a kiss-ass alpha female type. Their banter is amusing and you can tell they enjoy it as well.
Saia has several near death experiences in this novella, but Avalon was able to keep everything unique and different. The villain was a HUGE surprise, yet made perfect sense. And I just know something more is going one that we just haven't been told about yet! I'm dieing to keep reading.!
This was a great look back into the series and I hope to see Book Two, Waking the Phoenix, which looks like it will be out soon.
