Breathtaking adventure, suspense, and a lovely romance all combine to create an epic novel, with thrills and chills guaranteed to keep the
reader on the edge of their seat! Rich historical detail , and vivid descriptions transport you to another time and place. I never cease to be amazed at Kathryn Le Veque's ability to give her readers a bird's eye view of the action. I could hear the thunder of the horse's hooves, the clash of the swords, the warmth of a fire...just spectacular imagery,.
Duty. Honor. Country. These are words that Gaetan de Wolfe and his elite group of Knights live by. When one of their Brothers- in- Arms is
captured by the enemy, a search and rescue mission is launched and these brave Knights will risk their very lives to save their friend and fellow Warrior.
Aided by Ghislaine of Mercia, a lady warrior who just happens to be the sister of the man who holds Gaetan's Knight prisoner, danger and breathtaking adventure await. Ghislaine is increasingly drawn to Gaetan, who is the enemy. Yet, Ghislaine possesses honor, a virtue that guides her, as she is faced with the knowledge that the choices that she makes could mean life or death to the captured Knight.
WARWOLFE is a captivating read, and Kathryn Le Veque's love for this genre shines in this work! A Ten-Star spectacular read - Don't miss it!
A woman is writing her disotation and she is researching . She is asking for help. She finds someone who knows where there is a book written by a priest who came with the Duke of Normandy to England . This book was called the book of battle. It has book in this family for generations. When she speaks to Mr. Browne he is convinced she is the one to tell the knights tale.
. Warwolf is a harden knight who comes to England with the Duke of Normandy. As he goes into battle he is attacked by a small man. Well that man turns out to be a beautiful woman, but she is a warrior first and foremost. He lets her go only to ask her to show the same mercy that he showed her. She is stunned by this intimidating warriors kindness. As the fighting continues she sees a man being severely beaten. She protects him. And that my friends is where the story begins. I will not give spoilers but the book has everything you could want in a story. Kathryn grabs you and holds on tight and won't let you go until you read every word.
While Gaetan was a massive warrior and a great Hero, fighting for The Conqueror, I loved that Ghislaine, our Heroine, is a fighter, bow, sword, etc. Very, Very strong, loyal and she loved Gate to the point of sacrifice.
An epic story with betrayals from both family and friends, but, in the end, we still find that love wins-for all.
It's not only the ancestor of William de Wolfe, but just about all the Knights' ancestors that I have read about so often. The one that surprised me the most was the De Shera' s beginnings, from Roman to Norman. I see that Attimius was given land and after marrying a Norman woman and getting sons from her he was made an earl. I'd like to know what happened to the rest of the Roman people from the village and their future line. Are they still living in England and how did they get to be with people other than their tribe since they would not accept "strangers"? What about the other tribes, especially the one with human bones hanging around their necks.
No matter my dumb questions, this is gotta be my most interesting story. Thank you Ms Le Veque.
This book arrived in time when real life was simply too much. Reading a (pre?)medieval world was a much needed escape in the cold winter night (Yes, June is winter time in Australia).
If you have just started reading KLV's massive medieval universe, I'd recommend to start with this brilliant book. Warwolfe unites all the knight houses in one epic battle that started it all.
And Ghislaine is one brilliant and amazing woman, equally matched to Gaetan. She is no simpering miss. I liked her the moment she appeared in the story in the thick of a massive battle.
Their story made me realise how eventually William De Wolfe--who would later appear in the next book--why he had all these amazing and blazing traits of such a superior knight.
