"Was the 2004 Presidential Election Stolen?" by Steven F Freeman & Joel Bleufuss. If you are looking for a book that gives an honest straight forward account of the 2004 election, minus all the excuses ,dismissal of cold hard facts and main stream media constantly giving George W Bush a free pass never questioning anything he does this is the book for you. I was all set to buy a different book in the same vein. One I had heard about on television. But, at least one of the reviews I read put me off of the purchase, so I looked hard for a better one. This book has proven to be well worth the money. It gives all the evidence and lets the reader decide for themselves if it was or wasn't. It also gives background and details about the 2000 election that was extremely important also for the 2004 election.
Where I don't totally buy the exit poll number discrepancy's, even though he does make a good case for fraud, the fact remains that Republican's have done everything humanly possible to disenfranchise and suppress minority voters from at least 2000 through to this present day. Something that should not even be happening in this country. So I do believe they are more than capable of stealing an election. In my mind, once one election has been stolen, it should make the individual's veracity suspect from then on out and the outcome of an election questioned. But, that doesn't seem to be the case here. The Republican's have proven themselves capable of fraud. If we cannot have a fair election in this country...we no longer have a democracy. But, unfortunately no one questioned Republican's lack of integrity in 2004 when it came to tactics they definitely used to deliberately suppress voters. That much I am absolutely positive happened. Especially the media that we all know is decidedly run by big business these days that is Republican.
It has a section on the electronic voting machines we all use at election time and the overall problems with them. There is no inspection or oversight of the machines. The type of people who make and manufacture them are less than reputable people. The most disturbing aspect most are partisan Republicans dedicated to their party and ensuring they constantly win. That comes to me as a huge conflict of interest that should not be allowed to stand.
They give a section on what the state of Nevada (where I live) does in regards to keeping the gaming industry honest (everyone needs oversight or they will eventually try and cheat. It's human nature for so many). They need that kind of oversight when it comes to electronic voting machines. The idea that no one is allowed to look inside and see how they are put together, how they function, how they store information, inner workings or the type of computer chip that is used should terrify everyone in this country. There is no way to recount votes should there be election day problems. Which is something that should not be allowed to stand in this country. We are supposed to be above such behavior. The ones in my state have a print out that I always use after I have made my choices. And I go to a lot of effort to take my time, making sure everything is correct before I cast my ballot. But, I am still not positive my vote hasn't been stolen on occasions like it was in 2000. They should want the vote in this country to be honest and above suspicion. So I am more than pleased with the book and have given it high marks.
