The photos show the battery resting on front and back, Olympus OEM on far right, Wasabi on left. You can see the slight gap beneath the Wasabi brand.
I set up a time lapse-- it would take a picture every minute. Everything else was the same. The screen was on the whole time. Both batteries were full charged on the chargers they came with.
The Olympus battery had a small disadvantage because it took me a few minutes to set the test up. I also bought the camera used, so I don't know how much use the battery has (the camera had about 2000 clicks, but who knows how it was used).
The Olympus battery returned 171 shots. The Wasabi returned 151. I decided to recharge the Wasabi and do it again, because sometimes new batteries need to drain before they can give their full capacity. This time it returned 134.
The Wasabi battery was also hard to remove right after the test. It didn't stay that way, though, so I don't know if it temporarily swelled or if something else was going on. It only did it that one time, and once it released, it went in and out just fine.
So, the Wasabi batteries are either lower capacity than it shows on the label, or the voltage is lower and the camera shuts off earlier. Either way, they don't last as long.
The Wasabi charger is basically a generic version of the older, dumber chargers (only has 2 pins, so it doesn't have newer safety features). It works fine, it's nice and small. It comes with a cable to charge in your car.
Basically, these batteries work fine. They're not higher capacity than the Olympus (as claimed), and the potential swelling is pretty worrying. They're generic Chinese batteries that cost 1/4 the price of the Olympus. If it wasn't for the battery getting tight after that first test, I'd have no problem recommending them. But since swelling seems to be a documented (if not universal) issue with these, I think I'm going to err on the side of caution and return them.
Have used Wasabi batteries with two previous cameras, a Panasonic LX7 and an Olympus XZ2. The batteries have all been very satisfactory. I am not a professional photographer and do not shoot 100s or 1000s of images a day.
Given the price difference I'd rather have two of these than one OEM.
