Holds charge when not in use and works well with the battery charger canon sells with the camera.
If i needed another battery for my 7D, i would order from here again.
Update: it is now the beginning of 2017 I bought a total of 4 wasabi batteries for my 7D in whatever year this review was originally written 2013 (I think). This is what i can tell you about the batteries now: They've only been charged using a canon recharger, they still register well in my camera, they still charge with the exception of 1 which i had packed in one of my camera bags and then forgotten for probably 6 mos or more on a full charge, and is pretty much dead now (well it will charge and then stop at about 17% which is as good as dead. Although I am probably to blame for this). The other 3 still charge but 1 of them reads 80% when fully charged and the other two reads 100% with recharge performance at 3 green bars each. I also got a used canon battery when i bought my 7d secondhand, at the time that battery read 1 green bar in recharge performance (which was late in 2012), now that canon battery reads: 100% with 1 red bar in recharge performance. I try to rotate my batteries when i use them, but honestly I'm not sure that they all get into the rotation all of the time. I am NOT a studio photographer, I just like to take photographs.............a lot of them. I've easily taken several tens of thousands of pictures in the time i've had these batteries, some single shots, lots multiple shots, some with live view and some without. Yes, in my experience canon batteries are better, ie: last longer; but for the money you spend, i certainly think that the wasabi batteries are worth it.
Then last month, I was photographing a pair of waterfalls in a remote tropical valley in Central Africa, and I switched batteries. I received an error message from the 6D: "Communication with Canon LP-E6 battery is irregular. Continue to use this battery?" When I selected yes, the LCD screen on my camera began flickering in a frightening way. I turned off Live View and tried to take a photo. Although the shutter tripped, the camera reported that it could not display the image because of an error. I removed the Wasabi battery and inserted a Canon battery instead. The LCD continued to flicker for a minute or two, but eventually settled down.
I have tried inserting this battery into my camera since then, and continue to get the "irregular communication" error message. Except for that one photo being unreadable, there doesn't seem to be any lasting damage to the camera or SD card.
I contacted the manufacturer (via Blue Nook), and received a quick reply. I was notified that this problem comes with the most recent 6D firmware. Presumably, it is only only caused with some Wasabi Power batteries, since my other one works fine in the 6D.
Blue Nook's policy is to replace defective batteries for free within 30 days, then for $6 (i.e. shipping) within three years. They sent a new battery to me without much hassle. I still feel like I got good value for money in buying this battery.
The moral to the story is to do firmware updates before buying this battery, and try it in all your cameras within 30 days of purchase. But even if you do have a problem, they seem willing to resolve it quickly.
First, I ordered 2 batteries and paid $15.99 each and got free shipping (order value over $25). I ordered on a Friday and they arrived the following Wednesday - wow! that's 5 days ahead of the scheduled date. Impressive. The batteries arrived in the usual Amazon boxing. Inside, 1 receipt and 2 small white boxes containing the batteries. On opening the battery boxes each battery is in a plastic bag, the battery has a solid plastic cover protecting the batteries connections which obviously you remove. Now, here's what I noticed. I'm not an electrician and don't know much about batteries and such but.... the Canon battery I got with my 7D is a 7.2V and 1600mh.... this website photo of the Wasabi battery shows 7.2V 2200mh so to me that means it's more powerful in the sense that it will hold it's charge for longer....but....my 2 actual Wasabi batteries are 2600mh !!! So I was expecting them to hold even more charge and last longer and they do!!! The fully charged Wasabi (2600) battery out lasts the Canon (1600).... by about 300 photo shots! for me anyway. I couldn't be happier. My local Bestbuy store wanted $49.99 for a Canon battery and now I've got 2 of these babies for less than that 1 and they last longer too!
Great price, great delivery service, great product. Couldn't be happier. Highly recommended.
