So...to paraphrase, this guitar sounds really good plugged in but is a little lacking when just played acoustically.
As far as the build quality goes, it's hard to beat this guitar for the price. This guitar is made of real wood not particle board like some of the other cheaper guitars. The tuning pegs are nice and smooth when turning. The nut and bridge are plastic pieces (If that is a worry for you, they are easily replaced). The string pegs are also plastic. The neck is able to be adjusted by means of a truss rod. The plug in is a standard 1/4" in and the battery compartment is right next to it (standard 9V battery). It is located on the lower right bout (looking at the guitar).
The preamp is a Fishman preamp and is located on the upper left bout. It has a built in tuner that works with LEDs. Green in the middle and red to the right and left. When the light is green, you're string is in tune. It also has a display on the tuner that tells you what note you're playing. When you have the tuner activiated, it mutes the output (great for tuning on stage). There is a volume control, a bass control, and a treble control knob.
The box it comes in is quite questionable though and I was surprised it didn't break. After playing with it a few months, the tune is still good. The resonance it has is good to stand alone without an amp and even with one, the sound quality doesn't degrade. I like the cutaway of the guitar and the tuning is made easy and as long as the strings are stretched out a bit, you should have no problem doing minor changes to the tuning during cold/hot weather etc.
Overall great value and great for a beginner or intermediate. This guitar is the best for the price right now.

Awesome guitar. Said used condition but it was brand new with tags on it when received, exactly like previous Washburns I have ordered direct. Very pleasedPublished 12 months ago by Ben
This is a very nice guitar. As with any new guitar I had it set up by a pro. As a result this instrument plays like one that might cost three times as much. Read morePublished 23 months ago by Dennis Wilson

this is a really great value! This guitar feels, plays, and sounds like a $1500+ instrument. It arrived ready to play with light ga strings on it. Nice action. Nice full warm tone. Read morePublished on January 7, 2014 by Bob F.
