The downlowding of the mobile version to the IPAD is very complicated. It is is done thru Skyscape. Skyscape's performance is stone aged as compared to Apple's App. It took more than 2 hours . Their 1st level outsourced customer service person did not have a clue of what he is doing. The second level was slightly better. The APPLICATION ITSELF IS VERY POORLY DONE. It is just a copy of the book without good indexing. Very impractical to the busy physician. Dont waste a penny on this one , stay with the excellent, printed spiral version.

One of the must-haves for any internal medicine resident. Very useful during my intern year with explanations of basic management of pain, nutrition, admission orders, etc. Then goes into details on management of almost all the medical conditions you will encounter. Too big to fit into a coat pocket, but that's what pocket medicine is for.

This is a great manual and it's awesome to have it in kindle format so I don't have to carry this around in my coat. However, it's difficult to use since the index is not referenced--the index entries do not have page numbers nor are they clickable. This makes the book very unusable. For example, when you want to read about fungal infections within the context of AIDS, you have to search the whole book instead of using the index which is clearly organized to help you find this topic. What a disappointment. I called Tech Support and they said it was like this from the publisher. What a disappointment. Fix this!

To download the online version you first have to register with Skyscape for their marketing purposes, and then add their program to your device -- mine is an iPhone. You then run their program on your iPhone and download the WM from there. The problem is that the program on the iPhone crashes every time I try to enter my email (user name) - never even get to enter my password so have never actually used the program, which makes it impossible to download the mobile copy of the Washington Manual I THOUGHT I had purchased. Still have the paper copy, though, but that's not what I paid for. DO NOT BUY the Washington Manual for its online version until Skyscape posts a revision higher than 1.16.19, which is where the problem is. Even then, test Skyscape out on your device before you buy the Manual to be sure it works, if the online version is important to you.

I am a fourth-year medical student who will be starting an Internal Medicine Residency next year. I purchased this book at the beginning of my fourth year for longitudinal reading. I chose this book over others because of its focus on evidence-based medicine and numerous article citations. I was very happy with this book during my Cardiology rotation because it is packed with recent citations and summaries of landmark trials, but for many other subjects such as Critical Care or pre-operative medicine it is over-simplified. Overall, this has been the best book I've been able to find for longitudinal studying for practical medical knowledge. If you are looking for pathophysiology you will of course be better served by Harrison's or Cecil.

This is a very handy book to have available at this hospital- it has succinct readings on various diseases and problems encountered in internal medicine with the suggested work-ups and treatments. It is especially helpful to the new intern. This book is probably too big to fit in the white coat pocket without undue stress on the neck or coat. The index is not very helpful. For example: Crohn's disease is not indexed, but inflammatory bowel disease is. Pulmonary embolus is not indexed, but can be found by reading the related chapter. These are annoying problems, but the content is there.

Outstanding piece of work, especially the cardiology section has been very well written. The book is very succinct, and provides the right amount of information,to junior resident who is struggling to find the right resources to acquire knowledge from.
Very use full for the step 3 exams as well. Highly recommended.

frankly speaking, if you need to read the review of a book like this on a site like amazon, probably you are not a doctor and this book is not for you. THIS BOOK IS THE BIBLE OF ALL INTERNAL MEDICINE. PERIOD. i got this book in january and the new edition is coming out in july. but then, i got it when i wanted to read it and the only regret i have is why didnt i read this before. the book is awesome. the delivery was prompt. the price was lucrative. i dont see why shouln't anyone order this book. it is so useful and easy to carry. it also gives you a free online access for the same book which is a good thing when i read it on my phone. i am an intern and i got this book 6 months after starting internship and the 1st words that came out of my mouth after reading the first few pages was - "OMG !!! this is exactly what we were doing for the past 6 months; if only i had this book , i could have starting doing this from day 1 and not wait for my seniors to teach me stuff"

thats how good the book is........ if you dont have it..... GET IT.
